Hello I am reaching out about the Alight Birmingham apartments and ***************. They are up charging people for unlivable conditions. I am being charged $80 a month in electricity when I have not used the room in months. No one ever responds and they say mangers are on vacation for months. The rooms are filled with mold in the walls and toilets and bugs everywhere. My ceiling nearly collapsed multiple times and it took several attempts to fix the ceiling. During this I had trouble going into and out of the room, we had no access to the living area or kitchen, and we were not ever told when they were coming. The vendors would just come in at random hours of the day and stay sometimes until 10 PM. The vendors would constantly leave our front door fully open so that people could just come in if they wanted to. I have had homeless people in the stair cases because the door to get in is always broken and a security issue. Roommates who never paid rent or had people living there for free for months. This place is not only unprofessional but it is unsafe, unsanitary, and should not be allowed to continue leasing in Alabama. If you look at their reviews online it is at every single location they own.Business response

Hello, the charges for her unit accurately reflect usage and fair cost division among roommates. Regarding unit issues, we promptly address any concerns when brought to our attention. To date, we do not have any documented concerns from this resident. Additionally, our community has increased after-hours patrols, significantly reducing the security issues mentioned.Initial Complaint

I live in an apartment paying monthly rent. It's been 2 months since the air conditioner didn't work. The first time I complained about the air conditioner not working in the apartment office was May 10th. I have constantly complained to them with countless emails, phone calls, and office visits. But the air conditioner is still not working. So far, they have given me only one portable AC in my unit, which is a 4-bedroom, and have yet to give me a solution. It's not a real AC, so only the living room is cool, and each room is as hot as 85 degrees. On days when the temperature outside is over 110 degrees, the temperature in the room goes up to 90. I asked the office to move to another room because they couldn't live in a hot room anymore, but they asked for $200. I said I couldn't pay because I didn't ask to move the room because of my change of mind, but they said I couldn't. And whenever I visit the office, I always say that I will fix it next week. But they have never kept their promise.Business response
