I deposited a certified check into my account at this credit union the ********* location. For context I've been a customer over 10yrs since I was 17. I was a regular at the ********** and hoover location until I moved. I have deposited multiple checks to this institution and don't have a history of return checks or anything. This institution still insist on putting my check on hold for 5days. The managers *** verified the check and advised me that the hold would be released. I left under the assumption to check my account and noticed it wasn't released so I was provided false info just so I could leave. I called and spoke with *** at the alabaster location and was informed the check would stay on hold even though she gave us wrong info the previous day. *** verified the check and that the funds were available but stated she will not be held responsible if something was to happen to this check. I feel this institution does not value me as a customer they should be able to follow *** (know your customer) but they don't care. I will be canceling all business with this institution. I've done nothing but what's right but I am the one who get screwed in the end. Putting someone funds on hold for 5 days as if we don't have bills in a pandemic. We need our money but since it's not their money they don't care. This check should have been on a 2 business day hold if anything it's not even over 5000. They're making up info and not adhering to the institution regulations. They have not handled this situation correctly and has put my family and I in a bad situation. Bills are being delayed and they can't do anything but say I'm sorry. I'm sorry is not going to pay my bills. They are deceiving and hold our money to collect fees. I will no longer do any business with this institution once this situation is clear. This is unforgivable. We are already going through a lot right now and now this which is very unacceptable.

      Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/01/20) */ Unfortunately, due to privacy laws, we cannot release details of the account. However, after thorough review of the member's account and the activity that took place on January 18,2022, our teller made the correct decision to place the check on hold for 5 days. The full hold of the check will be released on January 23, 2022. At that time, if all outstanding deposits have cleared, the member will have access to the remaining funds available and can come into the branch to close out the account completely. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/01/21) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) This business has stated the same info which is not true. My check could have been released in 2 days the hold is at this lady discretion and she is using her power to hold others money. This institution is always having problems the online banking system is down or they're holding people's checks as well as direct deposits well passed time. This business does not have to tell me the next steps when I went in person and advised them once the check is released I will no longer be banking with them. I have already made arrangements with setting up a new account else where. This location has a history of mistreating and discriminating against people per their reviews. I want others to know this is not the institution to bank with. The people who cared left this company a long time ago to explore better opportunities. I have left a google review and will continue to advise everyone I know how terrible I've been treated and to no longer bank with them. They don't have to tell me how banking work when I work for one of the biggest banks in America. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/01/24) */ The check did not return. The funds are obtainable. The member is free to do what they prefer with the available balance and account.
