***** ******** with Merchant Development, supposedly purchased my grandmother’s house while it was under contract with another individual. We never received notice that he purchased the property. He removed the locks from the door and gained entry. He cleared out all of our belongings and gave them away and/or put it on the street. I called Mr. XXXXXXXX after I found out he purchased the property and spoke with him about the situation. He said “let me look into it and I’ll call you back.” One of my items was listed on ******** marketplace. I asked that person about it but she never responded. I really just want my belongings back. At this point, he’s stealing and ************* **** and whomever else received the stolen property is guilty alsoBusiness response

This is an unjust review of our business as well as an inaccurate account of what happened with our acquisition of the property referenced. While Merchant Development *** acknowledges the sadness this individual may have regarding the sale of the family home (the grandmothers), all actions and recourse taken were within the right of the Merchant Development *** as the property owner. Merchant Development *** retained ownership at exactly 12p.m. 06/27/2022. On this day and time, there were people/relatives moving items and were even granted extra time from Mr. ********************** (until 3:00 p.m) to finish up the removal of items from the property. This was a request that didn't have to be honored, but was extended to them. Explaining that under new ownership also fell new liability, and if someone inside or on the property grounds were injured etc. Merchant Development *** would be held responsible. The residents/family members had ample time before this date to remove anything they wanted to keep in their possession. Inaction on their part to complete it timely shouldn't hold Merchant Development *** culpable for anything, including this slanderous review published to the BBB website for anyone to read.
Yes, the locks were removed and replaced as any new owner of a property would do. Yes, the extraneous amount of debris and personal items left inside the property were moved to the curb of the residence. This is a practice within the right of a property owner, and because someone isn't satisfied doesn't validate this review or constitute a theft accusation. Those are serious allegations! We ask that this review be removed from the BBB website, this complaint be closed and the ** rating given to Merchant Development *** from the BBB be removed as well.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: Mr. ********************** did not speak with anyone who had interest in the property. The property owners were not notified of any of the above activity.
