I went into the office on an April 13th to have a prescription filled.(This is an office that I have once visited before). I called prior to visiting asking about the refilling of the prescription and was told by receptionist that I would need to come in and be seen. I came in on the Saturday of (April 13th). I paid $175 out of pocket. I got to the back and was asked a few questions about the reason for my visit. The bare minimum was not done. I did not get a physical examination nor did I get the lab work that should be included in my visit. Initially I was asked if I wanted bloodwork drawn for anything and after I disclosed that I had no insurance and disclosed my medical condition to them I was immediately given the cold shoulder & dismissed. I was no longer treated as an equal patient. They did everything from that point to push me off on someone else. Contrary to the catalog of diagnostics that are listed on the offices site, I was told that I need to go somewhere else. Go to where Ive been going. I was told that I could not just come in off the street and request a prescription. They also said that they had no record of me ever visiting their office since it had been 2years. After they have made it clear that they now dont have any of my records due to whatever reasons. I expressed my ailments and medical issues w/ this business they had no ************** simply want a refund due to the fact that I was mishandled during the ordeal after disclosing I had no insurance. If I would have had upfront knowledge that they could not have screened and provided me w/ prescription for my condition that I would not have ever made the visit to start. They literally did nothing but take my money. If they would have at least did a basic physical/check up I wouldnt even feel as bad but they did nothing to benefit me during the encounter but mishandle me.

I'm filing a complaint on behalf of my husband *********************** who had went to American family Care in ********** ******* to have an update on his medical card which he needed a physical to be done the physician at the time had injured his eardrum when he stuck the otoscope in his ear, he has been complaining about pain in his ear ever since this happened which was a week ago from today. Currently the time of me writing this is April the 12th 2024 so it was last Friday from today. I called American family Care and ********** after several attempts of trying to connect with them and finally got an answer and they said that he would have to pay a copay all over again just to be seen by a doctor from American family Care when they themselves had been the one to injure his ear in the first place and I don't believe that he should have to pay another copay to be seen to have his ear checked out from the damage y'all did to him. He needs to have his ear checked for free by y'all or at least a complete refund of his copay.

I paid a $40 copay when visiting the office per my insurance card. On 3/18 while I was out of town, I noticed a charge for $116.16 on my card. This was 2 months after my visit. I did not receive a bill or any kind of notification from the business letting me know that I was responsible for an additional amount, and I did not authorize them to charge my card. I opened up a claim with the billing department and was told someone would call me between 24 and 48 hours and did not hear back.

I recently went to AFC for treatment for a sinus infection. The doctor came in and stated that AFC has been auditing their books and are no longer allowing treatment for sinus infections unless the patient has been running a fever for 3 days or symptoms for 10 or more days. I was on day 6. She discriminated on treating me solely based on intake notes. She leaned against the door the entire time and never evaluated me. I asked for a steroid shot to help get the infection moving and was denied based on their new rule. I stood up to gather my items and she wanted to know why I was leaving. I asked again if she was going to evaluate me and assist and she said no. She ended up sending an oral antibiotic to the pharmacy without assessment. If AFC is going to have this protocol in place (no treatment without fever for 3+ days) patients need to be notified before paying and having insurance ran. I have called corporate and left 3 voicemails with no response. I am requesting a refund for my $45 and my insurance to not be ran. I will not be paying for anything owed after insurance due to this. Complaint with BCBS is being filed.
