On May 22, 2023, I was introduced to ******************* (Cando Construction) by a neighbor after I asked who installed his fence; mine needed repairing. ******* and I agreed that he'd repair my fence and deck. The work began May 30th and concluded on June 5th. After the project, I discovered my neighbor had deceived me: ******* wasnt even the person who installed his fence. Before the project began, ******* assured me hed provide receipts. I mistakenly paid him over $2k before ensuring hed do so. On June 5th, I asked if he could provide the receipts and a record of the expenses. He responded of course but never provided them despite my requests. ******* was super friendly and very conversational throughout the project. I later realized that all the cozying up and lack of professionalism was an effort to compensate for poor quality of work. Summary of Poor Work Quality:Gate not properly installed. On June 20th, I reached out to notify ******* that the latch on the front gate was no longer in alignment and couldnt be closed. He stated he had been sick for several days but he would send someone out to fix it. By July 9th, no one had come out and I heard nothing from him. I sent a scathing message which resulted in him coming out to fix the latch on August 2nd. (He didnt bring any receipts/records.) Shortly after, the latch was again misaligned and, until this day, will not close. The position of the latch keeps shifting because the gates not properly installed. Wrong nails used. Several nails are protruding through the fence and are visible, not to mention a safety hazard. Gate not level. The bottom of the gate was not cut straight.Work inadequate. Damaged boards were left in place, leaving gaps wide enough for small animals to get through. ******* stated that there would be a crew of four men working to repair my fence and deck. He and a sweet elderly gentleman with significant joint issues were the only 2 workers over the course of the project.
