*************** (Tremco company )was a nice person and we contracted him to replace a small area in the foyer, two doors, and strip and repaint the front door. Also he was to have an electrician to add some outlets and fix some switches. I prepaid in good faith in February2022 and he made it here sometime in October. Job was done and very unprofessional look. He never came back to see what his workers had done to inspect the work and kept delaying to stop by. He then decide to tell me that he list money on this job and took it off the over payment. I will be contacting the BBB and file small claims next week after I return from *******

Now, for the rest of the story. When I first meet the homeowners, they were very nice. They said they had an inspection done on their new home. The report they said stated everything was good. The inspector did not note any problems with any part of the house that we were being engaged to perform work. The inspection report did not state any problems under the foyer floor. There was a soft spot in the floor and based on the inspectors report, it was reasonable to assume the soft spot was due to rotten subfloor which could be addressed from under the house. When we starting checking underneath the floor, we found the floor joists were disintegrated to the point that it crumbled in our hand. Had the inspector went under the house, he would have easily noted that the joists were disintegrated. We discussed with the homeowner and told them it was a lot more to it than we expected based on the inspectors report. All floor joists had to be replaced. The house had also settled in the cloak closet and in order to level that are would require jacking up the corner of the house we discussed and showed the homeowner each step of the way we told them it was much more to be done and they understood the extent of work was greatly increased. We completed the work and homeowner told us it looked good. We replaced the floor joist, the subfloor, the tongue and groove flooring, stained and sealed the new flooring. Due to the age of the house, the floor was not easy to match up to the existing living room floor but we were able to match and level through some dedicated work. The cost of this work was about 5+ times what had been expected since if it had been a subfloor, we could have reinforced the subfloor without having to remove the floors. The inspection stated, according to homeowner, the house had been rewired. Therefore, I would it be able to add electrical outlets to the house. When the electrician started looking at the outlets as requested, they found the house had not been rewired. They had only taken a pigtail from original panel to the new panel. The house had not been rewired. The wiring was old and brittle. To continue working on electrical system would greatly increase the potential fire disaster. I even hired another company to verify the information. That company verified our findings. Therefore, we had to back out of this. The homeowner was shown this and the reason for us not to be able to go any further. I also had the second company review what it would take to bring the house wiring up to date and they stated over $20,000. The homeowner said they would not be able to do this work due to budget constraint. Therefore, we did not pursue any further. The customer then asked us to remove all the paint from the antique door. We removed the door, installed a plywood covering over the opening. We took the door to our shop and removed many, many layers of paint. We had to use a lot of chemical and sand paper to remove the old paint. The paint was embedded into the grooves of the door and required a lot of intricate work to remove paint from the ornamentation of the door.We also installed two quality exterior doors as requested by the homeowner. After presenting the homeowner with the costs for the extraordinary repairs, they stated they could not go any further. Therefore, we ceased further work. When they were given the invoice for the extraordinary work, they would not pay any more money. Therefore, we could not continue and loose money on the job.Summary: If the inspectors report had be complete and through, then the original estimate would have been much higher. By his report being incorrect, then the estimate was not correct for the amount of work to be done. If his report had been accurate, then the homeowner would have been better prepared to know what was the costs of repairs.
