Aug. 10, 2021 I received a quote from Mr. ******* for a job at my home in Scottsboro, AL involving repairing fascia board around our chimney and painting the outside chimney blocks. He had painted for me before several years ago so I trusted he would do the job. After two months of excuses (wet weather, lack of workers, etc.) I finally got a message saying I was next for the work. Oct. 14, I received a message that he would drop off a ladder for the job the next day and pick up a check for supplies to get started early the next week. He did both of those things the next day, Oct. 15 On Oct. 18, the supplies check for $1209 cleared my bank. On October 19, Mr. ******* had not contacted me or started the job (even with dry weather and nice temperatures for an outside job). I messaged him and his response was ' ladder is there.' Then he proceeded to ask if I wanted my money back. I told him that I would prefer for the job to be completed but decided to take the refund since I did not know when he would come do the work. Oct. 27, I inquired about my refund and Mr. ******* asked for my address. I sent it via text message. Nov. 3, I messaged Mr. ******* again and received no reply. Nov. 11, I sent certified letter requesting full refund of $1209 by November 22. Nov. 22, I received a money order from Mr. ******* but it was only for $400. My complaint is twofold: 1. He quoted a job and waited two months before starting. I was patient but expected him to start the next Monday or Tuesday when we contacted me on Thursday, October 14. 2. He took money for supplies but did not show up to do the job. We agreed to a refund but I have had to repeatedly ask for it. I tried to resolve this with him directly but only got 1/3 of my refund. This is very unprofessional. It has been 6 weeks since he took my money. I am requesting a full refund for the remainder $809 ASAP. The ladder is still at my house, but the job was never done by him or his crew. He may pick up the ladder.
