I purchased the attached gift certificate from Meyer Real Estate via BidonBirmingham.com I actually bid on 3 certificates up for auction and won all 3 which was not supposed to happen. There was supposed to be one winner for each certificate. These certificates were dated and valid for the entire year of 2019.However, there were strict stipulations on these certificates which made them more difficult to redeem. The certificate in question cost me $600.00 ********************* allowed these certificates to be extended ALWAYS. I have all of the emails with our correspondence in regard to the redemption of these certificates! ***** extended the dates of this certificate through 2022 in 11/2021! The reasons being, Covid Pandemic when it could not be used! The beaches were closed! Then Hurricane ***** that came through *********** and damaged many units and there was nothing available to rent for redemption of this certificate! Again, I have all of the correspondence to validate my complaint! I had been sending emails to ***** to make a reservation for my daughter and I to use this certificate from 12/18 -12/21/22! No Response from *****! So I called their office! Two weeks ago, I found out that ***** passed away from cancer in April 2022 :( At this point I am dealing with a Mai Nicely ******. Attempting to set up a reservation and use this certificate! Mai informs me that certificates were put into their new system, however this one did not get entered, therefore it was expired! I sent her all of the correspondence between ***** and I! I told her that this one must have fallen through the cracks! *** informs me that she doesn't make mistakes. Today, after one full week of nothing from Mai I receive an email telling me that they will not honor this certificate, even though **** had extended the validity and dates of this certificate that they can't find the funding to honor this certificate! That's it! A rude response without explanation and I am out $600.00Business response

Thank you for taking the time to share these details with us. As the certificate has been expired for approximately 2 years at this point, we do not feel that any further extensions should be *****ed. Your correspondence with *****, said that she would be open to honoring the certificate after the expiration date, they do not specifically ***** an extension and as it was not entered into our system and again is expired by two years we are not obligated to honor it. While we can understand your frustration with this situation, we feel as though the already extended time frame has been more than sufficient.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: This is completely an unfair judgement on this company's behalf! During the time of the extension, we experienced Covid which there was no renting going on! The beaches were closed! By Govenor ***************! Shortly after that, I was given the extension and tried to use the certificate, however Hurricane ***** came through and there were not any rental units available due to the destruction from the hurricane! To simply reject this certificate and say that it is null, and void is purely the decision of one person, their General Manager! Of which they will not give me they/them/their name! Or contact information! They will not even have a discussion! I received the rudest TEXT message response from this company! In a text message! Who does that? Truly the most unprofessional way to respond to a customer.Their response to you, the BBB, states that it came from *********************! With all due respects, I have attached the obituary of *********************! She passed away! If she were still with us this would not be an issue! This would be handled with ease and in a mutual friendly manner! How disrespectful is that to her?
I have spent $600 on this certificate! A business, that wants to do business and stay in business, would not slap a customer in the face and slam the door on them! How would they feel if they had spent this much money on a certificate? Every wall, barricade and distraction of being able to use this was thrown ** in the most unusual situations of a lifetime! I would hope that they would be more flexible and understandable.
