      I purchased the attached gift certificate from Meyer Real Estate via BidonBirmingham.com I actually bid on 3 certificates up for auction and won all 3 which was not supposed to happen. There was supposed to be one winner for each certificate. These certificates were dated and valid for the entire year of 2019.However, there were strict stipulations on these certificates which made them more difficult to redeem. The certificate in question cost me $600.00 ********************* allowed these certificates to be extended ALWAYS. I have all of the emails with our correspondence in regard to the redemption of these certificates! ***** extended the dates of this certificate through 2022 in 11/2021! The reasons being, Covid Pandemic when it could not be used! The beaches were closed! Then Hurricane ***** that came through *********** and damaged many units and there was nothing available to rent for redemption of this certificate! Again, I have all of the correspondence to validate my complaint! I had been sending emails to ***** to make a reservation for my daughter and I to use this certificate from 12/18 -12/21/22! No Response from *****! So I called their office! Two weeks ago, I found out that ***** passed away from cancer in April 2022 :( At this point I am dealing with a Mai Nicely ******. Attempting to set up a reservation and use this certificate! Mai informs me that certificates were put into their new system, however this one did not get entered, therefore it was expired! I sent her all of the correspondence between ***** and I! I told her that this one must have fallen through the cracks! *** informs me that she doesn't make mistakes. Today, after one full week of nothing from Mai I receive an email telling me that they will not honor this certificate, even though **** had extended the validity and dates of this certificate that they can't find the funding to honor this certificate! That's it! A rude response without explanation and I am out $600.00

      Thank you for taking the time to share these details with us. As the certificate has been expired for approximately 2 years at this point, we do not feel that any further extensions should be *****ed. Your correspondence with *****, said that she would be open to honoring the certificate after the expiration date, they do not specifically ***** an extension and as it was not entered into our system and again is expired by two years we are not obligated to honor it. While we can understand your frustration with this situation, we feel as though the already extended time frame has been more than sufficient.

      I am rejecting this response because: This is completely an unfair judgement on this company's behalf!  During the time of the extension, we experienced Covid which there was no renting going on!  The beaches were closed!  By Govenor ***************!   Shortly after that, I was given the extension and tried to use the certificate, however Hurricane ***** came through and there were not any rental units available due to the destruction from the hurricane!  To simply reject this certificate and say that it is null, and void is purely the decision of one person, their General Manager!   Of which they will not give me they/them/their name! Or contact information!  They will not even have a discussion!  I received the rudest TEXT message response from this company!  In a text message!  Who does that?  Truly the most unprofessional way to respond to a customer.

      Their response to you, the BBB, states that it came from *********************! With all due respects, I have attached the obituary of *********************!  She passed away!  If she were still with us this would not be an issue!  This would be handled with ease and in a mutual friendly manner!  How disrespectful is that to her?  

      I have spent $600 on this certificate!  A business, that wants to do business and stay in business, would not slap a customer in the face and slam the door on them!  How would they feel if they had spent this much money on a certificate?  Every wall, barricade and distraction of being able to use this was thrown ** in the most unusual situations of a lifetime!  I would hope that they would be more flexible and understandable.

      My family and I stayed at Mariner's Pass I-Room 201 through Meyer Vacation Rentals from July 24th-July 31st. Never in my life have I experienced such a nightmare. Closets were filled with dirty blankets, dirty pillows, dirty bedspreads. The blinds were broken. The room wreaked of smoke, yet we booked a non-smoking unit. None of the TV's worked. The microwave and toaster were extremely old and sparked fire when using them. I spent $4,400 and want a full refund.

Although our Guest Relations manager, Ashley, spoke with you several times and sent technicians to try to provide some relief from the issues it is clear that you were still unhappy. Ashley made the business decision to provide a partial refund which was processed as a credit to your credit card during your visit on July 27, 2021. We have discussed the matter with the property owners and they will address some of the issues we were unable to solve during your visit. Again we apologize that your much-anticipated trip was a disappointment to you and your family. There needs to be broader compensation to me on this matter. NO one should make any money here as the only one who lost in this case was me and my family. There was no service for the money I spent. With the exception of Ashley, Meyer was completely awful to do business with. Call after all day after day ruined my vacation. I expect further compensation here.

      I rented Sugar Beach 145 on July 29 thru August 1 Upon arriving I was very disappointed because there was mildew and mold on the inner shower curtain of the master bedroom. In the garbage can there was eaten chicken bones. The place had sand in the floor and the sleeper sofa was broken. We had 5 people in our party and my daughter had to sleep on the floor. Also, the security guards were renting out the parking spaces leaving us no where to park. Also, my family and I did not feel safe due to a homeless couple, which did not have a condo, was sleeping in their vehicle in the parking lot. This is highly unacceptable and I will never rent from Meyer's Vacation Rentals again. I'm request at least a partial refund because this is not business material. When I called the company I was told that this was someone else's problem and then no one returned my phone call.

There is no excuse for the shower curtain liner and trash issue along with sand on the floor and we do apologize. We provided a partial refund to compensate for the cleaning issues and the sofa sleeper situation. It is unfortunate that you experienced some parking issues at Sugar Beach. A lack of parking has been happening all of the coast this summer and we are sorry you were impacted in a negative way. Our team member, Donna, who works during the night shift reported your concerns about the people sleeping in the parking lot at that building to the appropriate people responsible for managing the building and the grounds. We did not mean to make it appear that we were not concerned about your concerns, however our hands are tied in these building and maintenance of grounds issues other than providing a timely report to the organization that is responsible. The only amount refunded was 100.00 We paid 1730 for this rental and it was not up to standards. When I called about the issues it was only stated someone would come out and fix it but we were on vacation and had to wait till 4p.m. to check in already. 100.00 does not seem to be an appropriate amount for refund due to the amount of the rental anyways. My daughter had to sleep in the floor because of the sleeper sofa and she already has back problems and she has complained with her back even more since we have gotten back home because the floors in the condo are concrete. When I called about the issues I didn't want to be stuck waiting on your people to come fix something that never should have been an issue in the first place. An agreeable amount in a refund would be $865 which is half the cost due to the severity of the issues and the fact that this never should have happened. As far as the parking issues, there never would have been an issue if homeless people weren't in the parking garage and the attendants weren't allowing people to pay $25 to park. When I arrived I was told I was only being allowed 1 parking pass but in my confirmation email it states that for a 2 or 3 bedroom condo 2 cars ere allowed. This left a bad sign for me from the get go. If your company knows there is trouble with parking there then something should have been done about it way before I reported it to the better Business Bureau. No it just seems as if you are trying to push things under a rug because we have completed our stay and you already had our money before we ever arrived. This is unacceptable and thus the reason for the refund. I'm not asking for all of it back just half to make things right. And the owners of the condo be made aware that the sofa needs to be fixed and the shower curtains need to be changed before someone gets sick from the mold and mildew.
