I inquired about a vacation rental on ****, and received a response that property was not available but he had another property that was available. He sent me a 4 page contract and said to send $2800 as a deposit for the rental thru ****, which is a ****** company. I just found out it was a scam when I was about to pY for the rest of the vacation rental. The property **** XXXXXXX was sold in November and I reserved it December 28th. When it sold, the property rental company changed from Gulf Shores Vacation Rentals to ******** Properties. Gulf Shores Vacation Rentals transferred tge rental agreements they had on the books to ******** Properties and mine was not listed. **** said they blocked the person posing as Dr. *** ******* from receiving any more funds, but would not refund my money nor reverse the charge of $2800. I reported it to Gilf Shores Vacation Rentals and they said they would get back with me last week and no response since. ******** Properties said the rental i requested eas available June 12-19, but they would not honor my contract. I was scammed and ****, Gulf Shores Vacation Rentals, ****, and ****** won't do anything to get my money back.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/03/17) */ We received your letter in the mail today regarding a complaint from ******* ****. She reached out to us on 2/28/22, regarding a home that we used to manage called *********** and a reservation that she said that she had. She told us that she booked *********** for June 18 - 25, 2022. We had no record of any reservation for her in our system. We informed her that the home sold, and the new owner moved management companies, and the new property manager was ******** Properties. We let her know we would check into this and call her back. After reviewing the reservations for *********** that we transferred to ******** Properties, we found that ******* never had a reservation for those dates at ***********, and a different guest had those dates booked. (We have attached the list of guests for your review.) We asked ******* to send her reservation confirmation email to us, because we were afraid that she had been scammed since we had no record of her reservation. She emailed us the documentation, and after reviewing, we realized she had been scammed. We informed her that no one by the name of ****** ******* worked for Gulf Shores Vacation Rentals and the owners of *********** were not *** ******* and ***** ****, as listed in the reservation confirmation email that she received. (We have attached the confirmation email that she sent us on 2/28/22.) We told her that someone used our information to advertise *********** as their own, and that she had been scammed. We told her to contact her credit card company immediately to dispute the charges. She said that she paid using ******, and that ****** would not refund her. We apologized and let her know there was nothing we could do for her, since she did not book with us, and it was a scam. The matter was out of our hands. If you have any questions, please let me know. Consumer Response /* (3000, 12, 2022/03/28) */ This transaction should be able to be reversed by the sender, especially when I notified you of potential fraudulent activities. I have used PayPal for years, and felt it was a secure legit business. However, after contacting you regarding this fraudulent activity, your company did not investigate the crime nor offer to return the $2800 that was scammed using your company. I would never want my business to support scams/fraud if I were you. Very poor security features with PayPal and Xoom making it easy for cyber criminals to use your business to commit crimes with no repercussions.
