I hired ******* to cut down ************ in the past. I was very satisfied. I sold that property in ******* and moved the Decatur Dec 2020. I called him to get an estimate on three trees cut down and leave the mess of wood since it would be cheaper for him not to haul the debris.He came and verbally gave me an estimate for $1200 or $1300. Then he texted me on Friday April 16, 2021 stating he could probably do the work for $1000 cash. He came on the following Friday, April 23. He arrived about 9am, he had to rent a truck with a bucket. Around lunch time he stated he didn't know if he could do all three trees. At 1:45 he knocked on my door letting me know all he could do is just that one tree and he couldn't come back the next day to finish. He still didn't finish the first tree and when I told him my brother will not pay him $800.00 because that wasn't the agreement. He got mad. He asked what was it worth for the work he did complete. I told him I didn't have any idea. He said he had to rent the equipment so he thought $800 was a fair price.I asked him why he didn't start on the other two trees since they were dead, I recall him answering.I received a text on May 3, 2021 that he's was placing a lien on my property. Sometime in Dec 2021 I received a phone call from a collection company(**********************-************)for $800 and $100 for the collector. I told him to carry me to small claims court.Attached please find copy of text messages.Business response

Our file records indicate that we have contacted you on two previous occasions regarding the above named consumer complaint.

BBB spoke with ************************* and he is will to take $450.00 as payment in full. He will stop the collections if agreed.

This has really opened my eyes to " written estimates". ****** learned. How ******* has handled this entire ordeal is very distasteful. For someone to try to bully their way and go to a debt collector and try to hurt someones credit is beyond hideous.
I will pay $250.00 toward the job that has been nothing but headache and should have never happened. The amount I'm willing to pay is solely based upon the entire situation of the work performed.Business response

**************** called, she is not willing to pay any more than $250.00. BBB advised the company will continue with their collection process and so said okay, she would deal with it.
