On May 24, 2022, ** ******** came to my door offering landscaping services that included trimming trees and bushes, mulching, river rock, sanding, sod, and clean up at the agreed upon price of $2500. I gave him half as a down payment, and he agreed to start in 2 weeks, after which the weather turned rainy for most of the month. I texted and called beginning in July for a start date, and he told me there was a death in his family and he had contracted Covid, but would start in a week or 2 at most. I tried to contact him after that, but he wouldn’t answer (I left many voicemails), and one time he actually hung up on me. I concluded that I’d been scammed. The work still needs to be done, but at this point, I just want my money back so that I can hire someone more honest and reliable to do the job.Initial Complaint

Oct 22, 2021 for $1500.00 I hired Mitchells Landscaping to do my flower gardens in the front of my house. included in the cost was ground cover under mulch for weed control. I noticed Feb 2, 2022 that they did not put the ground cover in one of the gardens and only partial cover in the others. I notified the company by text and they said they would be out the next day. They never came. I contacted the again via text Feb 16th and they did not respond. I contacted again via text May 23rd and sent a pic of the sloppy work with all the weeds. The company called me angry that I called his work sloppy. When he realized I had contacted him before he apologized and said he would come out within the week. Contracted Mitchell for 1000ft of sod on Apr 23 2021 followed up by $750 deposit check which he cashed on May 4. Kept saying via text conversation that it would be "next week" that the sod would be installed or that he was waiting on sod to be cut or the weather...this conversation kept going all summer until Aug 17 when he said it would be "next week"; since then he has ignored any further communication with me including me asking to terminate our deal and refund my deposit. I texted him august 25, 26, 30, 31, Sep 1, 2 and 9 with no response. Since he cashed my check over four months ago and has not delivered, i want my $750 back but he ignores my requests. Besides image of canceled check I can supply the aforementioned text conversation if need be.
