Unauthorized work causing damage. GT Johnson Construction Inc. doing business as Johnson Pools damaged our pool deck doing work that was never requested or approved by the homeowners. We the homeowners hired Johnson Pools (Johnson) to close our pool. Johnson's workers reported that they were unable to bring up one of the bolts for the pool cover. Not having this one bolt fastened would not affect the cover or it's functioning. The workers stated that they normally have a tool on their truck that would pop the stuck bolt out of the hole, but it was not on their truck that day. They stated it would only take a few minutes to remove the bolt with that tool and they could come back with the tool. We said that would be fine for them to stop back with the tool and finish the job. We paid Johnson the agreed upon price of $200.00. We went to Johnson and purchased the bolt they would need when they returned with the tool. After several days and no word from Johnson we called and ask if and when they would be returning. We were told they would be at our home on 16 Nov 21. They came and were let into the backyard and were given the bolt we purchased. Less than 20 minutes later we went to check on their progress and they were gone. The original bolt appeared damaged in its hole and a hole was drilled into our decorative concrete with a bolt in it and the new bolt we had given them left on the deck. We had no knowledge that they would do hundreds of dollars worth of damage to our pool deck and leave without telling us. We were then surprised with a bill for $128.00. We spoke by phone and in person to the service manager who was unprofessional and did not resolve the problem and expected us to pay them for damaging our pool deck. Who would pay for decorative concrete and then give permission to damage it? It makes no sense.Business response
