I had to have a driveway replaced. I called ***** with Quality Concrete he told me when he could come and give estimate on it. I told him I wanted the old concrete removed and new poured. He gave me his estimate and I went with him and glad I did. Quality concrete ***** and his crew did a great job and the driveway looks awesome. He did just what we wanted done and cleaned up everything. I will pass his name around and if I need anymore concrete work done I will be calling him. Thanks ***** M in Arab, AL. 7-14-2022

We needed to replace our driveway, add a parking pad, and re-route the sidewalk. *** came by to see exactly what we wanted and provided an estimate based off of me walking around a waving my arms while describing what we envisioned. He made two suggestions regarding my "plan", both of which made senses to me so I told him to proceed. *** and his helpers did an excellent job of converting my "arm waving" into reality and came back the next day and cleaned up scrap concrete and even pressure washed off the dirt etc. that had made it into the street. Hopefully I won't need any more concrete work in the future but if I do, I'll definitely call Quality Concrete again.

      Quality Concrete Driveway Replacement Issues
      17 September 2021
Based on the satisfactory driveway replacement done for a neighbor, as well as a positive BBB review, I contacted Quality Concrete (QC) to replace my driveway, which had developed significant cracks over the years that were becoming more extensive. QC came out to take measurements of the driveway and walkway between the driveway and front steps on 7 August 2021, and sent me an email that included their contract later that day. I accepted their offer and mailed a signed contract to QC on 9 August.
I was originally told the work would begin on the morning of Tuesday 17 August. QC didn't arrive and begin cement removal until around 3:00 PM. During cement removal, QC broke my internet cable, which was repaired later that afternoon following my phone call to the internet provider. This was more than an inconvenience, as both my wife and I telework from home and require internet to perform our job. In removing the concrete, workers used a saw plugged into one of my outside outlets for cutting the cement. The saw apparently drew more current than the circuit was designed, which tripped the circuit breaker. A worker told me about the loss of power, and I reset the circuit breaker. They continued to use the saw and the circuit breaker again was tripped. However, I wasn't notified of this second breaker incident and only discovered that the breaker needed to be reset when I noticed our sprinkler system (which was on the same circuit) was inoperative on the following day, which required me to reset the sprinkler system back to its proper settings.
Per contract deliverable, I gave QC (Mr. ********) a check for $5271 at end of the day (after two hours of work), which was one-third of the total cost.
Remaining concrete was removed on Wednesday 18 August. Crushed stone covered with plastic sheets and rebar was laid down and border forms were put in place, ready for cement to be poured. In addition, a plastic pipe I requested was installed across the driveway that led to the fiber cable box outlet on our house to facilitate fiber cable installation under the finished driveway. Per Mr. ********, this was something other customers had requested, also. I was informed that the concrete would be delivered on the following Tuesday 24 August, at 10:00 AM.
Per contract deliverable, QC (office manager *****) came by my house, and I gave her a second check for $5271 at end of the day.
Concrete was poured on Tuesday 24 August, as planned. During the surface smoothing process, QC again broke my internet cable, which was repaired later that afternoon following my phone call to the internet provider. I was informed that QC would clean up concrete that splattered outside the forms as well as clean up the concrete that flowed into the street. Regarding the street cleanup, I was asked to move the two vehicles I had parked on the street in front of my house so the cleanup could be performed. No street cleanup was done.
I noticed at this point that there was a gap between the bottom brick and driveway near the right side of the garage door frame, which I pointed out. Upon further inspection, the gap was due to the slope given to the new driveway at the garage entrance that angled down going left to right, which resulted in the driveway not level with the bottom of the brick. The original driveway did not have such a slope but was kept horizontal for about a foot from the garage entrance which met the garage brick work. As the gap is a structural, as well as aesthetic, problem, additional masonry work will be required.
On Wednesday 25 August, QC cut expansion grooves in the concrete and proceeded to pressure wash the concrete. Some cleanup was performed, mostly on the garage door; however, my stone footpath leading from the driveway to the backyard had concrete residue that went up 8 feet or so. Only about 6 inches of the path abutting the driveway was ever cleaned. And the front of my mailbox had concrete on it that I was told would be cleaned and wasn't. In addition, one of the crew had broken a sprinkler head. I was told by ***** that he had already come by and fixed it (without my knowledge), but when I turned on the sprinkler, I saw that the repair was not correctly made and will have to be redone. If the person affecting the repair had contacted me when he was finished and asked me to turn the sprinkler on to verify the repair, he would have realized he didn't do it correctly.
On Thursday 26 August, 9:15 AM ***** stopped by to pick up the third and final payment of $5271. At that time, she indicated that my driveway had more concrete to be removed than anticipated (it was thicker than was apparently standard) and that, per the contract, QC could charge me additional. However, she didn't add an additional charge because she wanted "to keep me happy" (or words to that effect). I pointed out various items that still needed attention: 1) the gap by the garage door, 2) lack of street, walkway, and mailbox cleanup, and 3) the unrequested, additional rounded cutout at the juncture where the walkway met the driveway, which wasn't how the original driveway and walkway were laid out, and which I did not request or expect. The original, and expected, layout is shown with the dotted lines. And some forms were not matched properly to ensure a smooth, continuous edge.
***** indicated to me that for the 20 years she's been with QC, I am the first to have a complaint.
***** agreed to the garage gap repair but said the concrete company should have cleaned up the street and not QC.
On 30 August, the internet installation crew came by to install a permanent cable. I pointed out the plastic pipe that had been installed for that very purpose. However, when they attempted to run the cable through it, they found there was an obstruction somewhere in the middle. They attempted unsuccessfully to remove the obstruction with a spring steel wire and were forced to go around the driveway, after all.
I understand that cracks in the concrete are not covered by any warranty. Nonetheless I wouldn't expect cracks to form within days of completion of the work, which is what occurred top our curb.
I contacted QC (*****) on 1 September and I have not heard back regarding the agreed upon repairs. The gap at the garage has not been repaired (only an unprofessional attempt at filling in the hole with concrete-like material and a piece of brick stuck on the front, still leaving a gap), no additional cleanup has been performed, my sprinkler heads still need an additional repair, I have an amateurish cutout at the juncture of the walkway and driveway that is unacceptable, and the plastic pipe installed specifically to provide cable access under the driveway had an obstruction that made it unusable for its intended purpose.
I expected a thoroughly professional, exceptional job; as such, I expected QC to live up to its word to repair any and all damage, correct the substandard concrete installation at the garage and walkway, fully clean up, and not to have taken it upon themselves to alter the original driveway plan. I fully expected the under-driveway pipe to have been clear of any obstruction. As it stands, the under-driveway pipe is unusable, the curved cutout at the walkway driveway is an embarrassment, and the follow-up activities have been ignored and will require additional service calls and expense.
On 8 September, I emailed Mr. ********, specifically to remind him about repairing the gap at the garage. He responded to my email on 9 September indicating that he would be by on 10 September. No one has ever showed up, and I was never informed that no one was coming.
I am very disappointed with the work performed by Quality Concrete. The items listed above indicate carelessness and/or lack of attention to details that demonstrates to me an unacceptable level of ineptitude. They have not responded to my multiple requests to address the above issues they indicated they would fix. Quality Concrete has not lived up to their name, and I cannot endorse them.

This review is a surprise to our company as we went above and beyond to make this customer happy. The forms were in place for two days so that he could request changes. Mr. Richardson stood over our men with hands on hips the entire time we worked, and the layout was his plan.

Our contract states that we get paid the 1st check at the end of the first day regardless of the time it takes us to do the required set up and removal. We expect a 2nd check when forms are in place and the 3rd check at the end of the pour. In 20+ years no one has had a problem with this part of our contract.

Our men spent 2 days with this customer pressure washing the street (debris left by the concrete company) the mailbox, garage door, grass and anything else he pointed out. Our men tried to fix the 2 inch existing gap in the bricks of his house, for free, but we are not brick layers, and could not please him.

This driveway is beautiful, and we invite anyone to go have a look. We went back every time he asks and did work for free, beyond contract. After this lengthy and negative review, we are confused as he never complained about the driveway we poured, only the extra things he wanted that were not part of our agreement.

We think he is trying to avert an invoice for the 13 inch of concrete removed instead of the 4 inch we were hired to remove, that he is responsible to pay, as explained in our contract and signed by him. His invoice is forthcoming.
