He took money from my 77 year old mom. Hasnt repaid a dime. She pressed criminal charges. Unfortunately she paid over *********. No work was ever completed. Horrible person who lied to her over and over. Do not do business with this company.Review from Chris H

****** Champion is a *****, there is no way around it. We signed with him to do a metal patio covering, he met me at the bank in March of 2023, I gave him a certified check for $4200.00 which was about a third of the total price for a deposit-needing money upfront RED FLAG ONE, he had no problem meeting me at the bank to get this guaranteed money-RED FLAG TWO. As everyone else on here has stated that was it, never saw him again. I wish I had checked on here first b/c that money is probably gone forever. After about a month of calls that ******* was going to come start the work no one ever showed and no one ever called. I finally got tired of waiting and asked for my deposit back and he responded with "sure, no problem, I will refund you". I called daily and spoke with the lady (*****) in the office as well as ****** himself, always "guaranteed" the money by the Friday, again no money and no calls. Spoke with my attorney and I'm going the Small Claims court route and see if anything comes from that, I am also going to try and get a warrant for his arrest for theft, from what I have found out it would not be the first time he has been arrested for theft.I would advise everyone not to do business with this criminal, he has to be stoppedReview from Gary W

I have sun room on my home that had a bad water leak. I contactd CHRC *** to look at the leak and get a estament.Mr ********************** arrived at my home on ***************** ********** **. on May 5,2022. gave me proposel of $2,500.00 with a down payment of ****** about one third of the cost.It is now 31 july 2022 we have not seen or have calls returned. I called Mr ********************** due to the out standing reports, but I understand that this is not the same company.At this time my intentions are have a police report out for fraud and turn it over to my attorney to have my funds returned or in court. Dont trust this ibduvidual.*********************Review from Ben N.

**************** is failing; it is a house of cards. He is desperate to sign any new contract possible so that he can cash whatever deposit is given to him and then pay for projects that are severely behind and barely limping along. Even worse, he has cancelled many contracts when it becomes obvious he cannot fulfill the work he committed to doing; it appears many of those people never get their deposit back. I'm part of that second group. We had a contract for an addition to our house and he cancelled on us. There is a lot to say but the quick version is we did get permits earlier this year and he dragged for months on starting the dig. Excuse after excuse after excuse. I can't tell you how many times he told me "I should know more next Friday" (or Tues or whatever). He told me countless times from the very beginning that he will refund me my deposit if he has to cancel. It was helpful early on to hear that and in many ways that's what encouraged us to proceed with him. He has started to pay me back but it has stalled bc honestly you can only do what he does for so long before the house of cards crumbles. I will be submitting a complaint to the Alabama home licensure board, I will be reporting him for fraud to the Madison county police department, and I have reached out to WHNT so that they can do an investigative report. This has to stop. He's hurting so many families by doing what he does.Review from Liz C

My god I wished I had seen these reviews before I let them start anything on my home. We started this project in February ,2021, here it is March 2022 and we are still being lied to. you can never can speak to anyone in charge and all we ever get is ma'am I'm sorry. this past Monday the 14th they were supposed to be at my house to finish up here it is Wednesday the 17th, we have not heard not one word from them, the least they could do is call. all we have gotten from them are a bunch of lies. they messed up the bricks on my house and grill with cement and torn one of my screens has it been fixed? NO! what does a person do in a situation like this? they were supposed to sand the cement down to blend it back wit my patio it is just not a professional job at all. I will never recommend them for anything.Review from John W

I signed a contract with Champion on 3 Feb 21 which included a down payment of $10,700 to build a screened in patio. No application for a building permit was made. Nothing was accomplished and by 7 June 21. I cancelled the contract and asked for my deposit back. I numerous calls to Mr. Champion and his office on when I could expect my deposit back. Mr. Champion made the excuse he did not have the funds, but would in a week or so. On 1 Aug 21, I hired a lawyer to address my issue with Champion. letters were sent to Champion with no resolution. A court date was made and Champion again did not respond. Even though I am pursuing a court action, I contacted the Huntsville Police Department and spoke with an investigator. He filed a criminal charge against Champion for Fraud by Deception. The investigator called Mr. Champion who said he would pay in about 7 days. Almost two weeks passed with no payment so another call was made to Mr. Champion that an arrest warrant was being processed. On 18 February , 2022 Mr. Champion delivered to me a check for $10,700. while this amount was was the amount of the original down payment, it did not include the interest or, legal fees or court costs I incurred over the last year. There are many cases very similar to mine in the BBB reference files. My advice is to read them and avoid this contractor.

Although the customer cancelled, there was quiet some time passed due to his property being in a flood zone which required a variance from the inspection department. I was not anticipating a cancellation so it did take a bit to get the funds available especially since Covid had hit and slowed the business way down. The customer was refunded asap.Customer Response

Yes I did cancel the contract after signing in Feb 2021 nothing was done. Mr. ******* Champion's Project Manager, did contact the Huntsville Permit department and was told to make an application, which included an engineering drawing, for construction in a potential flood zone. No drawing was submitted therefore no permit was processed. On 7 Jun Mr. Champion informed me he could not build the patio for the price quoted due to increased material costs and requested additional funds. Due to his lack of performance I did elect to cancel the contract, at that time. From 6 Jul to 21 Jul I called Mr. Champion 8 times, requesting an immediate refund. As stated in my original complaint, it was only after letters from my lawyer, the court and calls from the Huntsville police did Mr. Champion refund my deposit on 18 Feb 22. This process took 7 months, not quite "ASAP" as stated by Mr. Champion.Champion Home Remodeling & Construction, Inc. Response

After discovering all of these bad reviews, we decided to cancel our new contract with Champion. They had not yet even gotten the building permit or ordered materials, so it was not a problem. However, Harold Champion had already cashed our check the day after we signed the contract. Our money was gone. He said he would refund it when he got it. How did he not still have it if none of it was spent? He kept making excuses about getting money from another job first and then refunding us, making it seem like someone else was to blame. We had to file a police report. He stole many thousands of dollars from us, and that was my life savings. Then I discovered that he was arrested 2 weeks after signing our contract . . for home repair fraud.Champion Home Remodeling & Construction, Inc. Response

We do not get the permit until the job is ready to get started. She was told it would be two to three weeks for scheduling. We were about to get started when she cancelled. She was told it would take a short time for refunding. She was refunded in less than a week in full. THIS IS A REAL "KAREN" AND I AM VERY THNAKFUL WE DID NOT DO HER PROJECT.. There was nothing stolen and no harm. I would give ***** ****** a ZERO star rating.Customer Response

This is a ridiculous complaint given that she was refunded within a few days of canceling the contract. The other things written are to.slander me and the company. A real "Karen".
