This is a complaint against Turner Marine, I purchased my Pearson 365 sailboat from Turner Marine and it ended up having a mast step that needed to be rebuilt. And without me agreeing to have it fixed by Turner Marine, they removed my mast and all the lines and hardware and my boat sat for years. ***** ****** and I are members of the same yacht club so I tried to be as nice as possible paying for work that was never authorized by me, I never once signed a work order, They'll did things to my boat without asking and then slapped me with an invoice. I finally got out of there and ended up having my mast step built by someone else and then ***** had agreed to reinstall my mast for $1500. I now have a bill that's over $3600 and my mast is not properly installed, ****** *** lifted my sailboat out of the water before hurricane Sally and damaged my shaft never reporting it to their insurance company. Now they're slapping me with more storage fees. I am filing a lawsuit without resolution.

      Business response

      11/10/2021

Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2021/10/25) */ ******* did purchase a brokerage boat through Turner Marine from a third party. There was corrosion at the mast base inside the boat of the due to water sitting on the floor of the boat for long periods of time as well as a battery issues. Through differant conversations between Mr ****, the office staff and setting up a destep date and moving it around and conversations between the yard manager, we destepped the mast. Due to the misscomunication, we credited the de-stepping and the labor done Sept. 9th on Dec 12th, 2019. Mr **** paid for the battery issue. Mr Vage asked for an estimate to adjust the base of the mast and rewire the electric system in the mast. The estimate was emailed several times to Mr. **** in Feb, 2020. Mr.Vage did not respond to the estimate that was emailed over. About a month later it was approved, so we started the repairs. During Hurrincane Sally, Mr. Vage's boat was hauled out of the water as we had a manditory evacuation. The office had been trying to contact him the day before and early the next morning to get him to move the boat. Before the office could finaly get ahold of him the boat was hauled out and put on the yard. Yes, there was damage to the shaft while hauling it out. We did not charge him for the haul out and we repaired the shaft at our expense. There was no reason to contact the insurance company. Mr **** asked for multiple of estimates for differant items. I beleave he got confused. The verbal estimate of $1500 would have been to destep the mast and deal with the battery issue. There was a written estimate for $3475.00 for adjustments to the mast and other repairs requested. The actual bill for the current repairs was neither one of those amounts. Mr Vage has challenged every invoice he has recieved from us as well as dockage charges. Always stating we removed the mast without permission as he continned to have us work on his boat from oct, 2019 to June, 2021. Mr Vage was credited back for majority of his boat dockage while this boat was at our marina. He is refusing to pay for the mast storage on our yard, while we waited on him to make repairs, before we could step the mast. Mr Vage also contacted an insurance company on Oct. 12, 2021, what he thought was our insuance provider, and filled an insurance claim on damage to his floors. This was after we refused to credit back the dockage for the mast. We were also sent an email with a deposition like structure with a demand to respond from Mr **** and copied to a lawyer. Thank you for the chance to respond. Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2021/10/26) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The mast is not installed properly, the spreader lights do not work, the motor does not run after the work that was done to the shaft. It is shoddy and incomplete work and I have expressed that I will pay for mast installation once the work is done properly. I did send an email requesting all work orders on file that have been signed by me. There are no work orders regarding the mast step removal that led to my mast storage, and now I'm having many more issues. To resolve this issue they need to complete the work on my boat but instead I've been asked to move my boat. I had to pay almost $300 to have the boat towed from their marina. It has been a total nightmare over two years. They need to finish the work that they started on my boat the work is incomplete.
