**** DO NOT HIRE Alex B******** - Blue Ladder Construction ***** All we have gotten is ****. I hired Alex B******** to help with a remodel - hang sheetrock, build a wall for our laundry area, install a door. He wasn't the lowest quote, but was very competitive and said he could start on our very short timeline. We signed his estimate, he took a significant deposit from us contingent on a Monday start date. By Wednesday afternoon he still hadn't begun any work after promising he would show up at least 10 times during that time frame. Excuses included: "Another job went sideways, can't find any trustworthy help, ***********************************************...long lines at Home Depot, gonna work late and get it done, I'll be there in a few minutes, gonna come over and work through the night, picking up supplies now, etc"...over and over. Did not show up when he said he would. I repeatedly asked him to call me on the phone and all I got were texts full of excuses. Wednesday afternoon we did not have time to offer any more grace, or wait for more excuses, and we asked for a refund since he hadn't started work as agreed. And guess what? He "didn't have the money anymore. Had bills to pay." Now he won't answer calls or texts. We truly tried to be understanding for two and half days and offer the benefit of the doubt about the emergency, etc. But projects have timelines.
He has no idea how to run a business or treat customers. He belligerently stood on my property at the end of day 3 talking over me and insisting repeatedly that he would "get it done/start right now/give me a chance" - tried to convince me he was now an honest person and I should let him in my home ** In business if you are over extended or really have a true family emergency: just admit it, back out and refund the customer. Integrity is essential.
If anyone knows him, please encourage him to call us and do the right thing, return the funds, so we can all move on.
Thankfully I found someone else who can do the job on our tight timeline, but I don't want anyone else to mistakenly buy tickets to the dog and pony show. **
