We hired DND through Angie's for $3,800. This "business" deceived us and demonstrated gross negligence, as they did not pull a permit, where not licensed to work in our county at that time, did not build our staircase or landing to code, used untreated wood for the entire construction, with the only exception being 2 out of 8 posts (the smallest 2), built the staircase uneven, and did not finish the job (no hand rail installed per code or per our contract). Upon receiving this information we attempted to work with the contractor to get an approved permit, get an inspection, and finish out up the job correctly, but our contractor demanded we pay an additional $500 up front, that amount to extortion, before he would do anything else for us. Due to the use of untreated wood, we have been told by inspectors and other local contractors that the job is a total loss and must be removed before an up to code staircase can be built in its place. We won our Arbitration case and per our Arbitration agreement ****** of DND Home Improvement was to pay us the awarded amount. He has failed to do so, and it appears that will not pay unless forced by the courts.
