I had my 2018 Sierra Denali 2500HD towed to this diesel repair shop. the guy **** said it would take a couple of days before they could look at my vehicle because of being behind on their cars, as well as the holiday. **** called mid week of the very following week and told me the issue with my vehicle was that it needed a manifold replacement and the cost would be $3300 to replace the part with labor in that price. He called me two days ago and said he couldn't remove the present manifold because he couldn't get the bolt to release from the cylinder and the price went from $3300 to $10,000 dollars. I explained to him that I don't want to proceed with fixing my truck because I don't have that type of money. Just put everything back and Ill pay for the labor of him checking my truck and I'll pick my truck up since he's unable to fix it. He said I still owe him $3300 for him breaking down my truck, even though its still in the same condition it was when i towed it there. I asked. what am I paying for? he said labor of me finding out. They will not put my parts back and release my vehicle to me. I need my truck to take to another place to get a second opinion to be fixed. This is my business truck and their end of the bargain wasn't for filled, so I need my truck returned back to me.

      Business response

      09/18/2023

On 8/31/2023, Ms. ****** had her 2018 GMC Sierra towed here. I told her at that time
it could be at least a week before we could look at it -possibly sooner, depending on
current jobs in progress. We were able to get her truck diagnosed on Sept 6, 2023.
An exhaust leak on the left side of the exhaust manifold was found.
I called her and told her that she would need an exhaust manifold, and the repair would
be $3300.00 as long as we didn't find any other issues. She told us to proceed with the
repair. After starting on the repair, we found that 3 out of 4 bolts that hold the turbo
down were broken, and 1 bolt holding the exhaust manifold was broken. I called her on
Sept 8 and left her a voicemail notifying her of the additional issues found. I told her
there would be an additional charge for labor to drill out the broken bolts. I also told her
it would be about the same price [labor for bolts approx. = to labor plus manifold part].
We removed the exhaust manifold and proceeded with trying to drill the bolt out. Our
tech worked over 10 hours trying to drill the broken bolt out of the cylinder head. At this
point we made the decision that the cylinder head needed to be replaced. I called on
Sept 11 to let her know what needed to be done. She said she couldn't afford that and
would have to call me back. She called back on Sept 12 and asked that we put it back
like it was, and asked what she would owe. I told her it would be close to the same
amount of $3300 since we already have the parts off. I also told her that we couldn't
guarantee the repair because we couldn't get the broken bolt extracted. She said she
didn't understand why it was still the same price if the repair wasn't done. I tried to
explain to her the work was done, but could not be guaranteed since the cylinder head
is not being replaced, but she didn’t understand this. We had it completely tore down
and had to put it back together, so the charge is for the labor done.
The work was done we just couldn't repair it properly because we couldn't extract the
      broken bolt.
