This company sent technicians to add refrigerant to my AC. The tech added refrigerant but failed to put the caps back on the Schrader valves, allowing the refrigerant to leak back out, and within 14 days the system was freezing up again. I called Airmasters, who came out and confirmed the AC was freezing up due to a uncapped Schrader valves. The caps were found next to the exterior AC unit by the Airmasters technician. The technician replaced the caps and the leak stopped. My initial bill with Superior Heating & Air was right at 400 dollars. My bill to fix the issue they caused was nearly 500 dollars. I called and asked for a resolution. No resolution was provided. They called the technician. He claimed he couldn't recall if there were caps on the valves to begin with. However, the company policy is to put caps on if they are not already present. When the tech was informed of this, he then claimed he didn't have any on his truck. The technician did not mention any missing caps at the conclusion of the service, or any other issues, nor was it noted on any receipt or notes, yet the caps were found next to the AC unit by the Airmasters technician that diagnosed the latest problem. I asked for at least a call back. I did not receive any communication or resolution on the matter.

Mr. ******* called on May 28th stating his outdoor unit was freezing up. The technician arrived the same day. He found one cap on the system at the time and did remove it to check charge. The charge was low and refrigerant was added to correct the charge. Our technician did a leak test with an electronic leak detector. He did not find any leaks in the condenser. He also checked the service ports where the Schrader valves are located after removing his gauges and did not find a leak in that location either. Mr. ******* did not call our company again until after he had a technician from a different company come out two weeks later. He called our office this past Friday afternoon. The secretary was able to contact the technician but could not get ahold of the supervisor until later in the afternoon. He wanted to take a look at the job information in the computer and meet with the technician on Monday morning in order to be fully apprised as to the situation and what had gone on when the technician was there 17 days earlier. I apologize that we failed to get back to Mr. ******* that afternoon to let him know that it would be Monday before he would receive a call back. There was a leak on the system before the technician arrived. He could not find the leak. Leaving the caps off of the service ports did not cause a leak as one was preexisting on the system. There are notes on the system itself where the coil was changed in 2012 and where another company noted there was a leak in 2021. Our technician did try to find a leak, however we cannot fix a leak that we cannot find. Mr. ******* asked for a quote to replace his system which was provided within an hour of the technician leaving the job. Unfortunately leaks can develop on systems and some are evasive. Leaks do not get better over time, they worsen. If the technician had been able to pinpoint a leak in the system, the homeowner would have been notified. The technician would have provided a cost to fix or asked the secretary to estimate a repair. I am sorry that we were not able to find a leak on Mr. ******* system, but we have no way to repair what we cannot see. Since the technician did check the service ports and there was a no leak there, and there was a leak somewhere in the system prior to the caps being removed from the service ports, it is highly unlikely that the refrigerant leaked out due to the caps if they were not in place. Any refrigerant added to the system is going to leak out at an unknown rate until the leak is found or the system is replaced.
