In February I hired Matt ********** owner of Ground Control Lawn Services to mow our property and to do some rockscaping. We paid him half the amount due for the rockscape for rocks and their delivery. He quoted a monthly price for our lawncare, which I paid him for the month of February. He collected the money for both jobs and stayed long enough to pick up a few sticks in our yard. When I asked him about the landscaping/rocks every week he would tell me it would be the following week. He was apologetic along the way, so I was trying to remain patient. It came to the point in mid-March that I requested documentation of our agreement and the amounts I paid him. I know, I should have got all that in writing in the beginning. After requesting written documentation his wife messaged me to say that he was hospitalized and receiving a stint. She assured me she was going to follow up with the “rock guy” to see what the delay was, giving me an excuse that he came to deliver rocks but could not find my house. I asked her if we could just get a refund for the rocks. She agreed. Two weeks later I received a message to say that Matt was meeting with the Rock guy to get our money back. The following week Matt messaged me to say that the rock guy was out of town for a funeral and that when he returned, he would deliver our rock. I reminded him that I am asking for a refund because I no longer had confidence that the rocks would arrive nor that the job would be completed. I sent a letter via certified mail requesting a refund, but the letter was returned as undeliverable. My husband reached out to Matt April 24th asking for a refund. He said he was out of town for a funeral and would pay us when he returned. My husband reached out again and received another excuse. I am writing this on May 13th. We did not receive the work we paid for nor have we received a refund.
