I rented a room at Candlewood suites 10520 W. Markham Street Little Rock, AR. I was told that the room would be $159.00 total, for one night, this was the night of June 27th. On checking in I asked for a none smoking room. I was told that all the rooms were none smoking which was good. I was told that I would have to put up a $50.00 deposit that would be returned to me within about 5 days if the room was OK. I was traveling with my adult son my 12 year old grandson who has asthma and uses a inhaler, we shared the one bedroom suite. I had my own bed coverings including pillow cases. I had a double or queen size bed which my grandson shared with me. My son had the couch. I used my son's card for the $50.00 deposit. I was assured the next morning by a staff member that the $50.00 would drop off in a a few days. 20 to 25 minutes after leaving the hotel my son received a text from his bank showing $50.00 plus $65.00 that the hotel has charged. So my son called the hotel and they told him that we were smoking in the room. So we went back to the hotel and the manager took us back to the room that they had staged, she showed me a little dot on the bedspread and a little dot on the wood dresser that she said was cigarette ashes. I reminded her that I asked for a none smoking room, We don't smoke, also I brought my suitcase back into the hotel and showed her my bedcovers that I used to cover the bed. But she insisted that we smoked in the room. We hàve filed a police report.

Jeers to Candlewood Suites in Little Rock (off Markham)
I came into town for a 6 week contract at Baptist Health. Initially, I was staying at the hotel on a day to day basis while attempting to find more long term options. After a few days I had exhausted those attempts and inquired about doing a 30 day stay. I was interested in changing my room type from a double to a one bedroom suite since I was traveling with a teenager and dog. I asked to see the suite prior to moving in and the clerk took me upstairs to show me what it looked like. During our walk upstairs the clerk asked what brought me to LR and I told her I was a travel nurse coming to work at Baptist. Once back downstairs I agreed on the room change after I was told it was a better option and would be cheaper than night to night. I was quoted $1950 at this time and told to give them time to write out the agreement paperwork and add drip pans to the stove. When I came back down a few hours later they had changed the rate to $2000/month. I questioned the change and was told it couldn't be changed to any lower. They had also written across the document the rate was non-refundable and I was a travel RN. I was extremely irritated, but just ready to get moved in since I had to work that night. I pulled out my card to pay and they informed me they had already charged my card. My info was on file from the previous nights. That's completely illegal. I could of changed my mind or anything during those few hours. I'd like to add I entered the contract unaware that the 1bdrm suite had A/C in the living room, but not in the bedroom. When I complained about it the manager gave me a box fan. They tried changing my room after a few days, but each of the 1 bdrm suites is setup the same way. They refuse to give my money back and judging by multiple conversations about this subject with mgmt they play this game quite often. I'm in the process of disputing through Chase Bank.
