Date paid 10/23/2023 for Home insurance (dwelling) to United Home Insurance Co./******* **** ** ******** **** **** ***** *** **** *** **** ********* ******** ***** *** ******** * *******. Policy#***************** the amount paid $124.50 cancelled insurance. *** **** ******** was supposed to get me a reimbursement from United Home Insurance Co. ************. I canceled because this company excluded my roof. Due 10/29 2023 I pd. 10/23/2023 25% (they have not paid me back anything) can you help me get my money back. They spelled my name wrong ******** ***** spelled correct is *******. I only had insurance for approximately 4 days then I got new insurance.Initial Complaint

The company United Home Insurance has went out of business on December 18, 2023 and we have yet to receive our refund for the auto and home premiums that we paid through March 2024. We have received no information for when we are to receive our refund.Business response

As you are aware, UHIC has been placed in Liquidation by the Receiver for the AR DOI. I have attached the court issued Liquidation Order by the State of Arkansas. All UHIC policies were canceled on 12/18/23 by the Receiver for the Arkansas Insurance Department.
The complaint seems to be about the TN Guaranty Fund having a $250 deductible on returned premiums they owe on behalf of UHIC. Assuming this is correct, that is an issue to discuss directly with the TN DOI/TN Guaranty Fund. UHIC does not have any control over the Department of Insurance or Guaranty Fund in any state and is following the Liquidation Order issued by the Receivership.Initial Complaint

On October 17 2023, United Home Insurance company sent my mortgage company Gitsit solutions a bill for an insurance premium from my escrow. This company is going out of business from bankruptcy and even though Knowingly, they are going bankrupt. They sent my mortgage company a bill and accepted the premium check that was sent. Also knowing that they were canceled on November 4th and my new homeowners insurance (Farmers) was taking over on November 4th. They still accepted the check for $1237. In order to receive my premium back, I have to file a claim through the Tennessee Commerce and insurance to get my refund back. In order to file the claim I have to pay a $250 Deductible to even file the claim. I need some type of help with this issue. Because I feel like I'm getting scammed from a company that is going bankrupt.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: If this company was being liquidated why did You bill my mortgage company, accept the check from them and cashed it? You need to be held to the highest standards. Because that is basically scamming my mortgage company and myself.

Our vehicle was hit by someone who drove through a red traffic light on Nov 2, 2023. What happened was captured in our in-car camera. The at-fault driver’s auto insurance company is United Home. Over the past month, we tried to contact United home for rental car service, but got no meaningful response. We were not able to talk to any of its adjusters who handle claims. No phone calls were returned after leaving voice messages. What we received is just a standard email saying the United home is in the process of closing and asking us to check back with them in a few days. They even have not yet confirmed the liability of the car accident with so many overwhelming evidence. Without its liability confirmation letter, our insurance – Progressive refused to pay us the deductible. We request United home to return our phone call, confirm the liability of the accident , and reimburse the expense of rental car we have had. The case # for United home is ******. .
