We hired JDE Foundations to add a sump pump and trench in our crawl space as well as improve the French drain on the north and west side of the home. The total estimate was $10,500 and work was completed in two days. Jackhammers were used to dig into the ground (no concrete) and the propane pipe was struck. This pipe is visible above ground but the impact mark was under the siding of our house. Once the smell of propane was noticeable in the crawl space, work had to be haulted and fire department brought in. We turned the switch off our propane tank for over a week until we could find a plumbing company willing to work with propane. **** of JDE Foundations is using every excuse to say this pipe was already leaking and refuses to admit fault. He knows nothing of this history of this house and we told him several times the propane tank had been fully inspected. I have kept the piece of pipe which is old but sturdy and clearly shows an impact mark of their jackhammer. The invoice to replace this piece of pipe is $500 which I sent to him by text as well as their secretary by email. I have told him repeatedly I would like their insurance company to come and if the insurance claim is denied I am happy to pay this remaining $500 due. Instead we get a weekly invoice reminder which we have replied to twice, and their latest reminder invoice includes a note threatening legal action.Business response

To whom it may concern, there is some truth in the complaint filed against JDE. This truth reads such as, excavation Started on 4/4/23 around the home and the propane line was carefully exposed. Once exposed, my men smelled propane and called the fire department on or around 9:15am. Once the fire department cleared the area for safety the homeowner took it upon herself to call a Plumber of her choice without informing JDE(Around 11am). This plumber cut and removed this pipe and called me to explain the pipe was leaking from deterioration. After speaking to the homeowner. I was informed that the propane tank was filled full and was empty in 6 months (Most tanks this size last 9-12 months) further proving the tank was slowly leaking underground. JDE Was not given the opportunity to have a plumber of our choice inspect the line for true damages, since this was not done JDE release any and all responsibilities of the repair of this line.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because we requested the owner **** to send their insurance to insect the site multiple times and were denied this opportunity. Please see the screenshots of our text message conversation sent with our original complaint.The piece of pipe showing a clear impact is saved and available for inspection at any time. Furthermore the plumber did not replace the pipe the same day. We were left dealing with unusually cold weather several nights while waiting for repair.
We respectfully request the invoice for this repair to be adjusted from our final bill and to be left in peace.
