In short: STAY AWAY FROM MIGHTY JOE'S CONSTRUCTION (MJC)! This father-son family owned business has moved from state to state, city to city for many years in order to prey upon new clients: from AR to TX, then FL to MI and NJ, and now in central Ohio. HomeAdvisor recommended MJC to me for asphalt driveway resurface. After the a contract was agreed upon for a 3" Asphalt job for a double-garage driveway. MJC hacked the whole project by starting with 3" at my garage concrete end but dropped down to less than 2" after a foot till the sidewalk. MJC used cheap and coarse asphalt, cut down the material and made the surface wavy (no less than 20 spots measured by a 4-footer level leaving 1.0-1.5 cm gaps), damaged the City's newly resurface street, spilled over and damage the sidewalk, chipped off my neighbor's side-curb, did not taper the edges, did not clean up, and even knocked out my garage brick column. I requested that they come back to resurface my driveway and restore my garage's brick column back to its original condition/form. They refused, talked their way out of their responsibility, and even shifted the blame on me saying that I am ignorant in paving business. They refused to present their license/permit, insurance paper, and their local business address. I had to file a complain with the City of Columbus 311 in Ohio. The City's investigators gave MJC 10 days to correct their shoddy job on the driveway and repair the damages on the streets' surface caused by their metal tracks (which they were not supposed to use metal tracks on the City's streets). When they came back to resurface my driveway, again used the cheapest and coarsest grading asphalt, did not taper the edges, did not clean up the street, and refused to restore my garage brick column back to its original condition. A complain is filing with the Ohio Attorney General on damaging property. If anyone in Central Ohio has been scammed by MJC, please file your complain with the City of Columbus 311 in Ohio and the Ohio Attorney General. Their truck's License plate is Ohio PMJ-4120 and USDOT No. 1880946. Two investigators from the City of Columbus called the job was done by ************* hackers who couldn't even operate the machines--or they intentionally wrecked people's property and City's streets. If you want to take your chance with MJC, make sure you have $5K setting aside for court litigation.Mighty Joe's Construction Response

Mr Daniel thank you for your kind review and your business I would like to extend my reply back to you by saying that I did restore the condition to your brick column to its original condition by hiring a brick mason to make the repairs for me I furthermore respond to your kind review by stating that the city of Columbus over saw all work performed on the resurfacing of your driveway when it comes to depressions or low areas a 1 cm depression is not that big of concern I furthermore encourage you to contact the employee of the city of Columbus who oversaw the work who photographed the original asphalt depth that I installed was well over two and a half inches after compaction a 3 inch poured asphalt driveway will compact to roughly two and a half inches as far as your comment of moving state to state or city to city that is false I make it no secret that I am from Arkansas and operating my business here in the city of Columbus Ohio I did not damage your neighbor's curving and he has no proof to back that fact this is yet again another form of harassment would you feel obligated to pour out upon me I am sorry that I ever entered into a contract to perform work for you I am unsure as to what you mean by scam I am registered with the state of Ohio and also the better Business bureau I do not hide from my complaints I mend them to the best of my ability don't take my word for it the city of Columbus was there and saw this first handCustomer Response

You meant you refused to come back and resurface my driveway until I filed a complaint with the City of Columbus Ohio regarding your shoddy work? So it does not bad enough that it took the City of Columbus's Investigators and Prosecutors to force you guys to come back and correctly resurface my driveway the second time? And a City's investigator, Ted ******, had to stay there the entire day to supervise and instruct you and your dad to do the paving correctly according to the City's specification. Even with the City investigator supervision, you ordered the cheapest and coarsest material (not supposed to be used for street and driveway surface) to pave the driveway, you did not taper the edges that the investigator, Ted ******, had to taper the edges himself before the asphalt turn cold and hard, and you did not clean up the street afterward on which my 85 year old mom had to clean up. The City's investigator, Ted ******, had to shake his head in dismay. That looked like two belligerent little kids, you and your father, hacking your way into business. By way of your response, you even admitted that there were depressions: 20 spots on a less than 30 feet in length double garage, 1.0-1.5 cm minimum depression gaps. You and your dad had gathered half a dozen friends wrote up those good reviews so you could pray and scam people in other cities. So how many states have you and you dad preyed and scammed on people with bad reviews: TX, AR, MI, FL, NJ, TN, OH. I will continue to write reviews about your scam on every webpage I could find until your business is shut down.
If anyone has any doubt about this case, one can call the City of Columbus 311 and verify with the two Investigators: Dwayne ******and Ted ******, and further verify with the Ohio General Attorney within two weeks of this response. I am very surprised that BBB and HomeAdvisor still allow your business advertising on their webpages.
The brick column damage is on its way to the office of Ohio Attorney General. The brick column at my garage was not restored correctly with the clamps in the back that attached to the wall. You meant you hired a $300 unlicensed hacker, a landscaper, for a job that would cost $1,000 to patch three broken bricks on a whole column of 120 bricks and then pushed the column back against the wall without securing by clamps.

Mr. Daniels the city of Columbus did not force me to repair your driveway the main concern of theirs was damage to the street. According to you,Your driveway had low areas of 1 to 1.5 cm that was not a big deal they did not hold water. I agreed to resurface your driveway because you verbally agreed that you would be satisfied and seek no further action legal or otherwise that you would be pleased and leave me alone. With witnesses to verify and yet here we are you bashing my business lying calling me a scam. Your brick columns have been repaired by a brick mason to the best of my knowledge they have been repaired correctly and properly I believe you are frustrated because I did not choose your friend to repair the bricks if I were to be a scam I would not be able to be found on the Better Business Bureau nor would I be registered with the state of Ohio as far as the materials which I used to install and resurface your driveway I bought them from a local asphalt plant a surface grade hot asphalt nowadays Mr. Daniels there is no such thing as a cheap asphalt to install a driveway it meets all DOT spec and city of Columbus certification.
