I had a new roof installed on my home 10/18/2020 and it has leaked ever since. It was an insurance job for hail damage and after it was finished and started leaking the company said a new flashing was needed around my chimney so filed another claim with my insurance company and had it installed. The roof continued to leak so they came back seven different times to try and fix it. Finally after leaking for so long the wood was rotten and they had to replace some of it ( using my wood to do the job ). It continued to leak and still does today. Tried to file a claim with Southern Constructions insurance ( Baxter insurance in Mountain home ) . It has been over a month without any word about the claim and when I called them today they said that the contractor had pulled the claim ??????????

We were contacted by Mr. **** to do an estimate. There were two leaks previously (before southern) that he was concerned with. We installed a new roof for him.  Months later, the customer called about the leak on the porch area of his home (in the previous leak area). We installed a new chimney flashing because it was needed. We responded to several of his calls for the leak on the porch. We have been diligent on resolving the issue- finally he wanted to make an insurance claim. I helped him, but it was originally filed with the wrong insurance. It needed to be with our subs insurance- so the claim was re-filed with the correct company.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because

Apparently Southern construction is having some memory issues due to the fact that initially they were called out to look at our roof had one leak ( not where the current leak is ) and when they came out he said my roof had hail damage and stated that my insurance would pay to re-shingle my roof which in turn would take care of the leak. After the roof was replaced it was not months but after the first rain that I called Southern construction and told them that I had a leak. That is when they stated that I needed new flashing around my chimney. Roof still leaked!!!

    Sincerely,

On 1/6/22, we contracted with ***** ******, owner of Southern Construction, to pour a concrete driveway, sidewalk, and back patio for a total of $34,000. The contract included "clean up". His crew began work on 1/11/22; the driveway and sidewalk were completed on 1/16, and the back patio was poured and somewhat completed on 1/19, as the concrete team left and did not come back. Per the contract, we paid ***** $17,000 on 1/6 - this was cashed on 1/10. On 2/1 ***** came back to look at the patio and the rocks and gravel the team had left beside the county road. He also asked if he could pick up the check for the remaining $17,000. We had concerns about the work and told him so. ***** convinced us that he would be back that week to finish up all the work, repair the poorly done back patio, and do all of our dirt work. He was paid the remainder of $17,000 on 2/1 - it was cashed the next day. ***** returned one time on 3/26 and agreed that the driveway was washing away and the porch was a shoddy job that needed to be repaired. From Jan 19th through the present, we have called ***** numerous times and have sent a total of 22 text messages asking him to come back and finish the job. None of the overflow concrete was cleaned up around the sidewalk, driveway, or patio, and we still have concrete dumps in our yard from where the concrete truck cleaned out. Five huge rocks are dangerously near the county road - along with a large pile of rock and gravel. The gravel under the driveway is washing away and leaving the concrete suspended in the air. Because the dirt/gravel work around the driveway was never completed, we have lost much of our topsoil and gravel due to it washing away with the rain into our county road. We had to hire another contractor to spread the four loads of dirt ***** requested and that remained in our front yard for 2 months. On 5/1, I send a detailed list and pictures with a request that ***** complete all work within two weeks. It remains unfinished.

The job has been completed. Southern Construction completed everything in scope of work per contract- the day before we even received a complaint. As always, work is weather permitted. We had several weeks of rain. Southern can not prevent any washed out areas, drainages, etc. There were torrential down pours in our area for weeks. It is the homeowners responsibly to have final grading and drainage done. We also dug out some very large rocks in the driveway to help prevent future damage or cracking in concrete, in which we did not charge any additional money. The homeowners kept asking about moving these rocks, which was not in the scope of work. They also asked about doing some extra dirt work if the homeowners bought the dirt.  (The concrete guys put a small dent in the fence which cost $150. Southern offered to pay the $150). Southern Construction did the dirt work and moved the boulders at no extra charge, which would have been far more than $150 of our time. No dirt work was on the original bid. We are sorry that you un-pleased. While working, they made it clear they were unhappy with about everyone else's work there they had working. We try our best to please everyone and do a great job.
