On 10/25/23 - I purchased 12 doses (2 boxes of 6 monthly doses each, for a total of $388.52) of Simparica Trio (heartworm medication) early for my Shih Tzu from Colorado River Animal Medical Center because I still had 2 doses left over from my previous purchase. The prescription label they placed on the front of the packages had an expiration date of 7/31/24 which would expire before all the doses were used. I began giving my dog the medication I purchased on 10/25/23 to him on 01/01/24. After his 6th dose on 06/01/24, when I went to open the 2nd box I noticed BOTH boxes had a MANUFACTURERS expiration date of 03/2024, which meant the past 3 months of medication I had given him was expired, and the 6 months of unopened medication was already expired. When I brought the medication back to them to either swap out or reimburse me for the 9 months of expired medication they sold me, they told me I had to schedule a new heartworm test for my dog. When I arrived for my scheduled appointment on 6/11/24, their door was locked with a sign that they said were temporarily closed. I called and left a message, they texted me back and scheduled my appointment for 6/25/24. On 6/23/25, 2 days before my appointment, they texted me and said they cancelled my appointment and were out of stock of the medication. For the inconvenience they would issue me a refund check, but further added that I shall not contact their office, that they will be closing my account, and that any further communication will be discontinued/blocked and I will have to find a new veterinarian. On 6/28/24 - I received my refund check from them for only $211.76 (the 1 unopened box of 6 doses) and not the remaining 3 months of expired medication I had already given him, unaware that it was expired. This business is overcharging for expired medication, refused to refund me the entire amount, and instead of rectifying the issue blocked me and told me they'd email me my records (which I still have not received).

My family just moved here from **************** and we took our animals to Colorado river Vet. Our dog ***** had her shots and wellness check. They were asking about a tumor she had on her tail. I let them know it was bugging her and I planned on scheduling to remove it once we got settled into a home here. We made the appointment with them and brought her in on october 27. When I picked her up the next day they brought her to me and her suture had already busted open. I mentioned it to the girl who brought her to me and she shook her shoulders and said thats how it looked when she was placed in the holding kennel. Her wound was wide open. I took her home and the next few days it just didnt look right. The stitch they placed wasnt dissolvable so they told me I needed to bring her back in in a week to remove them. I had a terrible feeling about the way it looked so I decided to gather a second opinion. I took her to a different vets where she was seen by 2 different doctors. Every doctor telling me in fact the surgery was done incorrectly. They cut the margins on the incision to wide so sutures couldnt grasp the skin and unfortunately it would be an extremely long healing process. I was given some antibacterial cream and pain meds for her by the new doctors. Her 2 weeks recovery has now been estimated at 6-8 weeks depending on how clean it can stay. With it being on the base of her tail every-time she potties she plops it right in the dirt. so I have to clean it every-time she potties.. her surgery was over ***** at Colorado river. They were made aware of the suture tear and had nothing to say about it. I have photos of her healing process from the day I picked her up to now. Its a huge open wound that has to remain exposed to heal because of their mistake.
