I have been a student with AIU since February 2022. As a online learning student for Business Administrtion. I have sacrificed quitting my job in order to be able to focus on school and obtain my degree. Within the last few months there have been dealings with personal issues that I have been trying to solve to the best of my ability. I submitted a written appeal and ended up being on academic probation. Now while I understand policy but I have never received any follow up after that appeal process as far as discussing a plan to ensure academic success. I have had classes to retake because they were challenging areas. Yes, we may be attending school online, However life just happens and fast forward to the month of July toward the end of the month, a week before entering into August. My town suffered a severe storm that knocked power out all over town. I notified instructors in time to inform them on what was going on. being that attendance and meeting deadlines will be affected due to the aftermath of the storm. After, I informed my instructors an update. Given the time frame It was difficult to catch ** in time with certain assignments. **************** posts cant be made up. I submitted another appeal due to unforeseen circumstances and explaining what prevented me from succeeding in my plan. I'm upset because I was 4 classes away from graduating. Which is unfortunate when my second appeal was denied. The entire town was dealing with outages and there is no possible way to complete assignments without electricity. I did what I could but cell phone battery had to preserved in case of another emergency occurred. I feel like that the board did not have empathy for a situation out of my control. Now I also feel like they just wanted to punish me on a technicality, even though I presented documented proof of what happened in my town following the storm. It was in the local media and I presented news articles from ********************
