I am a former resident of this program. It is an abusive program, and multiple complaints have been filed with ************ of ****** Services. Additionally, Re-Creation Retreat has received numerous penalties as a result of regulatory inspections. I witnessed a teenage girl shatter a mirror and stab herself in the abdomen with mirror shards. She had been requesting to talk to her mother, and was denied by staff. The owner, *******************************, sat down with the witnesses and expressly stated we were not to talk about it, or we would have consequences. Staff listens to all phone calls and reads all letters, which is preventing teens from speaking out about abuses. Because everything is monitored, I was never able to speak about the stabbing incident to my family until I got home months later. My family confirmed they were never notified by staff about the incident.I have witnessed restraints as a means of convenience and retaliation, including one restraint I witnessed, in which a 220lb+ man restrained a small teenage girl because she didn't put on her socks. Also, I witnessed a restraint on a triple-amputee, who then called out for help. A separate staff member gathered myself and the rest of the girls in the area and escorted us out, all the while the disabled resident was being forcibly restrained and screaming.My counselor was only licensed ****, and did not have valid Arizona license, therefore practicing illegally. Group therapy consisted of girls gathered around a television watching ******************* witnessed, cooked in, and had to eat food prepared in a kitchen that had a substantial cockroach infestation. The issue was not taken seriously - all meals were prepared amongst roaches. As a punishment for improperly setting out meat to thaw, myself and another resident were forced to scrub the walk-in freezer on our hands and knees for 3 hours. We were in t-shirts and shorts and denied warm clothing, which caused freezer ***** on my hands and knees.

*** helped our grand daughter to realize she was going down a rabbit hole. Her self esteem was at its lowest. She was making unsafe unhealthy decisions; ***, drugs and horrible association. The *** Program (16 months) was exactly what she needed. My grand daughter has confidence, makes positive choices and is focussed on her future. She graduated *********** and the *** Program.

Please do not consider sending your child to this horrible place. My daughter is now out and is struggling to survive in a world that she doesnt even understand anymore. Ask them how many children graduated and committed suicide after graduation
