Had a water leak. Called ServPro to mitigate the damages. Told the representative, that their payment was conditional on approval of homeowner's insurance claim. That claim was denied because the damage was limited to the crawlspace under the house. None of my carpets or drywall was damaged...which is the specialty that Servpro mitigates. I told this to ServPro by phone and that the claim had been denied. Since there was no mitigation work to be done, I assumed that my business with ServPro was finished. I was wrong. Since that time, Servpro has tried to bill me over $700 for work that they did not perform. Of course I did not pay them one dime. Since then, ServPro turned the bill over to ***************** for collections. Now, Insight has sent me three notices demanding payment. I have ignored them. Now they are threatening legal action... I look forward to this - because the obvious fraud being perpetuated would see them land in jail. Thus far, this collections agency has been smart enough to not report the unpaid bill to the credit reporting agencies. It seems that they are aware that ServPro's claim is fraudulent and that any reporting to a credit agency would automatically trigger a dispute of that claim. (And if they had, I would have filed a civil suit against both them and ServPro). As someone who is a successful litigator in several Superior court cases - I actually look forward to this case going before a judge and or jury.
