I hired Unitas to help credential a new associate. I chose 3 insurance options. We use DNOA, and are not directly contracted through Aetna. I went through the insurance with my insurance manager and we chose DNOA, not Aetna. When we received the paperwork from Unitas it listed Aetna. I should not have assummed, but I assumed what we chose, DNOA was refenced when ***** was mentioned. We have been contracted with DNOA for over 5 years so when I see ***** that's what I assume. I tried to resolve this with out rep but she was absolutely no help. Initially I chose DNOA so I feel Unitas needs to resolve this. Especially since I paid $$$ for the credentialing to be completed I ended up having to spend hours of my own time filling out information that was necessary to even start. Very unhappy with the service provided and want this resolved immediately. Now the owner, who was contracted with DNOA is out of network since we cannot have 2 dentist, one with DNOA and one with direct Aetna contract. This is messing up our entire system and is Unitas's error. If they do not take ownership and help us resolve this, they will be losing business.

I was promised at least 4% increase in allowable negotiated fees from this company and was told the average increase after they negotiate fees for me is 10 %. After hearing this I allowed them to negotiate with the insurance companies for me. It turns out that 6 of the 9 companies that I am contracted with don't negotiate with 3rd parties and I had to send the emails and contact the insurance companies myself....NOT something they explained to me up front. So for my $5800, THEY could only negotiate with THREE companies for me. Of those 3, one came back with LOWER fees than my current contracted fees! The other two came back with no increase. Unitas's employee kept trying to get me to go under big umbrella insurance plans where I would have to accept many more plans, but "some" of the plans would have higher fees. The catch is that most of them have LOWER fees than what I am already getting. In conclusion, SAVE YOUR MONEY! This process yields nothing but a $5800 hole in your bank account. Nothing helpful came from their "service". Felt completely like a bait and switch. And don't let the fact that *********************** is who you get billed through. They will NOT stand behind this company's lack of results either. Shame on you ***********************

    Unitas Dental, LLC Response

    03/09/2023

We are truly sorry that you were disappointed with your experience with Unitas. We strive for unsurpassed customer service and complete honesty and transparency, and almost always receive very positive feedback from our clients.Unitas does not ever promise or guarantee any specific increase amounts. We can provide to interested leads average client returns, which is always conservative against our actual averages, and depends on the provider and current market. One of the goals of a consultation with Unitas prior to signing up for our services is to lay out clear expectations and determine if the leads current *** landscape and goals is a fit for our services. Optimization using network umbrella companies was suggested for ***s *************************** had been unsuccessful at negotiating with. It is standard in the consultation presentation to provide a slideshow to reiterate information reviewed. We specifically outline to providers that For some ***s, they are more receptive to negotiations if the office reaches out to negotiate/gather participation. Its as easy as copy and paste; we provide the contact info and exactly what you should say. See Exhibit 1 We were able to negotiate an increase with a *** (Ameritas) that would have increased reimbursements for that *** and two others (Guardian and Principal) but was never signed or returned to Unitas to process. This was originally sent for signature to ***** at the office August 30, 2022. See Exhibit 2 Unitas also negotiated offers from out of network ***s and presented those to the office for consideration. The decision to contract is always the providers, but efforts were made to illustrate participation options. The *** that offered a new custom fee schedule that was actually lower than current reimbursements, was one that would only work directly with the provider. Unitas provided reports illustrating the decrease, but is up to the provider to negotiate with the *** due to limitations the *** placed on the providers ability to have third party representation. *** fees are always at the discretion of the ***. When on service, the current *** climate did not see big improvement in providers' direct fee schedules so we will often recommend contracting with a network umbrella company as a way to increase *** reimbursements as their reimbursement schedules are often times higher than the direct contract fee schedules. Yes, the umbrella companies usually come with additional *** participation, but if the fees are higher, there is rarely an objection. If there is objection, the provider may opt out of participating with some ***s under the umbrella. We support if the choice is not to select this option, but this changes our ability to make progress in *** reimbursements. The statement The catch is that most of them have LOWER fees than what I am already getting is inaccurate. **************************** did not pay $5800 as suggested. We allowed the provider to term the contract early due to his dissatisfaction, and he paid $3992. When we were notified of the clients dissatisfaction, we immediately stopped billing the account and did not pursue the balance of the account. See Exhibit 3- billing summary provided by ************************While we completely understand Dr ************* disappointment in the results and share his frustrations with lack of offers from his directly contracted ***s, Unitas did put in all available effort on his account and then allowed him to terminate his contract early.
