Decorative Concrete Coatings (also known as DC Coatings), quoted me for a commercial job and required a $3500 down payment. He ended up never showing up for the job. When I called/text/emailed him, at first he had every excuse in the book (death in the family, covid, kidney stones, an emergency ......) but after putting me off for over 2 months, and slowly stopping to respond, I cam to the conclusion that he was never planning on doing the job he was paid for. He is a scam artist. After reviewing him online, I have found over 12 people who he has done the same thing to.

We paid *********************** to grind our kitchen and dining room floor to concrete and finish it with 2 layers of coating. ********** first requested 1/2 of the total cost of the job ($475) in order for us to secure the work. Once he had that money, he requested the second half less a $100 discount ($375) because he had fallen on tough times (he was vague about the reason). After consulting with a close friend who also had work done by ********** recently and vouched for his character, I paid him the remaining amount. At this point, no work had been completed. Once we agreed on a time for the work to begin, he continued to delay coming to the job. First he told us his grinder broke. Then, he was on the way one morning, and sent a photo of his brand new truck on the side of the road (apparently stranded). We waited about a week for the part to his grinder to arrive, which was delayed be a few additional days. Finally, he showed up for the first time about 3 weeks late. He showed up with only a hand grinder. Did a small amount of work (about an hour worth), then told me he'd like to wait for his large grinder to complete the job. He continued to lead us on with texts that he'd be back within a few days. He never came back to complete the job. It has been about 2 months since we last saw him, and he has stopped answering messages.

October 1st, 2021, myself and owner/operator at DC Coatings, ************************ who was a former friend, started planning the professional epoxy-coated garage floor job that would be scheduled for the later date of Tuesday February 15th, 2022. The job, a single color of epoxy flooring in a 3-car-garage was agreed upon and on 01/25/22 a Zelle from us to ********************************* of $600 was sent excitedly! since it was meant for supplies and our job date was three weeks later! unfortunately, I never received the invoice & only received confirmation of payment two days later after I reached out via text message, that was the start of the less-communication until he stopped responding to me entirely. My husband's persistence and two phone numbers (since our personal phone numbers are now blocked) after many uncomfortable conversations that all ended with excuse-after-excuse we are now to this point. Our garage is no longer prepped for the floors to be done, we put our belongings back since they were out for 2 weeks with hopes he would actually come do the job.on 2/22/22 a Zelle request for the $600 refund has been ignored along with being deleted from social media and miscellaneous apps we shared as friends; phone calls are now flooded with the excuse of 'needing to return supplies' since this business must not have the $600 overhead to repay a customer.

      Business response

      03/10/2022

The money was refunded.. never planned on charging them other then materials because they were friends I had a few family things to take care of so we had to reschedule then the weather called for rain so I couldnt do the floor with the new scheduled date (you cant put epoxy down if it calls for rain it cant get wet)

The owner of this company required me to pay half of the cost up front in order for him to schedule my garage floor to be epoxied. He required me to make payment via Venmo or Zelle, the two platforms he uses to receive payments for this business. I used Venmo. His Venmo profile looks like a legitimate business profile, so I trusted that it would be safe to make payment to him that way. I paid him $729.34, half of the price he quoted me for the job. He never showed up on the day he promised to do the job. I had to chase him down, and he gave me an excuse as to why he did not show up, but assured me he would take care of me the following week. Again, I never heard from him. I left him voicemails, text messages, and even requests for my money back on Venmo and Zelle. Again, no response. I spoke with Venmo and, according to Venmo, the companys account is a personal account, and not a business, so their purchase protection program would not cover me in this case.
