At the agreed time, a member of the Carl's Marine Rentals team rushed to meet two members of our group at the Stateline Auxiliary Launch ramp. Once in the water, one of the two jetskis wouldn't start (the jetski at the heart of this complaint). After receiving some direction from the Carl's Marine Rentals team about how temperamental this jetski is, we got it to start and it was ran for roughly an hour until the houseboat had pulled out of the ************** and was ready for the 2 jetskis and the wakeboarding boat to be attached for the tow from ************** to West Canyon. When we arrived in West Canyon and took the jetski and rode it for roughly 15 minutes before the engine simply gave out and wouldn't turn back on. The jetski engine seemed to simply give up with no warning. When opening up the engine compartment to take a quick (granted, unqualified) look, we discovered that all of the engine oil was siting in the bottom of the engine compartment. We tied up the dead jetski to one of our anchor lines until the end of our trip. When we got back into reception on our way back to ************** September 1st, 2022 we contacted Carl's Marine Rentals, explained our experience, and requested a discount because we were only able to use one of the two jetskis for the majority of our 5 day rental. After calls to Carl's Marine Rentals 9/5, 9/7 and 9/8, we were told that a further review of this jetski was required before any decisions were made regarding a discount. Today, 9/10, we discovered that Carl's Marine Rentals had taken our full deposit on 9/9. When disputing the charge with our bank, we got Carl's Marine Rentals on the phone and they explained that they still needed to have a comprehensive review completed and that they'd likely charge us for a full engine replacement. We didn't exceed the upper limit for RPMs, run into anything, or submerge the jetski during it's very limited use. We'd like our security deposit to be returned and a discount issued.
