My mother purchased a contract with Best Funeral Services via ******************************* for her cremation. When she died the Funeral Home charged the family an additional ****** stating that was for the transportation fees from ****** where she passed to Peoria for her cremation. NO WHERE in the contract does it state there are additional charges for transportation. As a matter of fact the portion of the contract that mentions transportation costs says Transportation included. I spoke with two women in the course of making arrangements for her cremation and neither one of these ladies mentioned any additional costs for her transportation. If I had known I never would have had her body transported to Peoria. That doesn't even make any sense. The Funeral Home Manager I spoke to when I went in to settle everything up agreed with me that one of the ladies I spoke to should have advised me. He also stated it was in the Service Charge Flyer. Contract says nothing about that.

Good morning,
Funeral homes are obligated to follow a General Price List. This price list is distributed before offering goods and services to a family when planning ahead. The transportation fee on a contract covers up to 20 miles (please see page 3 within the attached document).
The fee is to cover the significant expense associated with transportation from ****** to Phoenix.
The hospice nurse reported the passing and we followed the instructions to mobilize for transportation.
We are sorry that this came as a surprise to you. We think the planning process was completed with 100% transparency and that it was likely not anticipated that the passing would take place outside of the 20 mile included radius.
