On 05/29/24 I rented a van from Phoenix Discount Van and SUV rentals located on *************************************************************************, Phone Number ************. I was previously phone quoted a price of $649 for the rental. The rental was for pickup on 05/29 and drop off on 06/05. When I picked up the van on 05/29, I was charged $814 on my credit card. I asked why the amount was different and the employee said that it was taxes. I was confused by this statement because this amounted to approximately 25% tax. I returned the van on 06/05/24 and asked for a receipt that indicated the taxes I paid. The employees gave me receipt (attachment #2) that did not show taxes. I repeated that I would like a receipt that indicates the taxes I paid. The employees said that they would need a manager to send me a receipt via email that indicates the taxes. I received an email several days letter with a receipt (receipt attachment #1) that again, did not indicate the taxes I paid. I responded to the email stating that I need a receipt that indicates the taxes I paid. I never received a response. I am requesting a receipt that indicates the taxes I paid. Finally, I feel was overcharged and taken advantage of. I believe this company does this when they know people are preoccupied with the stress of a trip. Final note: Their website venrentalphoenix.com says that they do not charge airport fees.

Date of transaction 05/16/2024 Amount : $400 We were told that when we returned the car on time that we would be receiving $200 back. And the their reasoning was they didnt accept our insurance which we figured out was a lie they just wanted us to give them $400 just for them to not give it back like the stated. I called to inform them that their employees are giving people the wrong information and he told me oh well thats why you read the paper so there is no he said she said so basically what Im hearing is its okay for companies to give out wrong information. He was rude and hung up on me twice.

I rented a car from ***** on May 9th - May 12th. I took pictures upon pick up and drop off. They have a 300mi limit included with the rental fee, anything above that is 94 cents. I received an email when I returned the car everything was fine, I will receive my deposit but they felt I drove 15miles over the 300 limit. My math was 6.3 so I emailed them pictures of the speedometer stating their $15 dollar charge was inaccurate. ***** then sent 5 threatening and harassing emails. Stating I'm a problematic traveler. They alerted the *** about me. They mentioned something about my social media page with a picture of my license. Which is absolutely inappropriate and concerning for identity theft and extremely scary they will stalk me and threathen me through company workers. Anyone at that company can view my license and secure information. They then stated they found damages to the car and will contact my insurance company. I will attach all threatening harassing correspondence. Please consider investigating ***** and their business practices. Someone needs to let them know this is inappropriate. I'm also concerned for retaliation if this is how they respond to questioning additional charges. They threaten, harass, and use buzz words to scare you.

On Tuesday March 26th, we rented a car from Phoenix Car Rentals for $562 to go to **********. We spent $130 in gas and the car broke down on us on the way there. We were stranded for hours in the middle of nowhere in Ocotillo from 11pm to 2AM. We had to contact a towing company and get brought to the nearest city where we had to get picked up by a friend from *********. We are now stranded in **********, they said in order to reimburse ** they need to get the car back first and inspect for damages (which will take a few days), they refused to send a replacement car, and they arent reimbursing us for a trip back either.

November 9th was suppose to be the start of a great vacation, the flight from ******* to Phoenix was good. Got our baggage then headed for the car rental Payless where I have been in line for 1 1/2 hours and from the looks of the amount of people still in front it will be another 1 1/2-2 hours. They only have one employee. This is not how you run a business!! Like airlines have a passenger bill of rights Car Rentals like this should also a flight from ******* to Phoenix shouldnt be shorter than standing in line for a car. And to top it off why is Phoenix more expensive to rent than other cities?

Rented a vehicle. The cost given over the phone and in person was different. The vehicle did not have a working turn signal or reverse lights. The steering, breaks, and inside of the vehicle were broken and not safe for driving. We attempted to call the location with no answer. We returned the vehicle with a full tank of gas and without using the vehicle and requested a refund for the rental and they refused. They also keep credit card information that is not stored protected for customers. They were extremely rude. They seem to be running a scam for a business that does not take the safety of customers seriously.

I recently experienced a vehicle total Loss and limited time to replace or rent a vehicle. I came here due to being a low cost temporary situation. First called to receive a quote over the phone stating I needed the vehicle from 6/19-6/30 of which I was quoted $309 before taxes and fees. When I arrived he asked me what I was quoted over the phone, adding on taxes and fees came to $377.13 or approximately $30/d. This was all written on a paper receipt with no breakdown of costs. Since Im was paying with a debit card, he claimed that there was a flat rate of $500 where I would use that as a security deposit and get that back once returning. I had to ask for the actual payment receipt beyond the rental agreement as he never provided it to me which all seemed odd. Go to get in the vehicle which was an impala with ******* miles on it, barely a 1/4 tank gas and nothing inside the vehicle worked. He stated nothing wrong mechanically and why they offer so cheap. Third day in, my car stalls twice after starting in and pulling off and all of the *** lights come on. Once it stalled the last time, I called and he said to bring it in to trade it in only to replace me with an equally terrible vehicle. When I came in the older gentlemen is very hot headed and has yelled at me twice to the point of his face getting red. End of story, I ended up needing the vehicle one extra day-called to let them know and they claimed I never did although I proved by my call log date and the time he didnt want to see it and said youre not getting a dime back, its a flat rate and even commented on why I should be in a situation in front of customers. I could not believe from start to finish what I experienced. I wouldnt talk to a dog they way they talked to me even in front of other customers. Many people can be in tough situations temporarily and that should never be a reason to allow this kind of business to happen.

On the morning of December 3rd we rented a 2009 **** Expedition from Phoenix Car Rental on ****************************************************************************************. We told them we were going to ***********, ********** and returning the car on the morning of December 6th. We were just passed ********* going eats bound on the interstate 40 when the Expedition started smoking inside the cab, which was fogging up the windows and smelling like radiator fluid fumes. We drove like that for about 5 hours, constantly wiping the windshield down with napkins so I could see through the rain and fog. I had my wife and my two boys, a 2 year old and a 7 year old and my mother-in-law. Right after *****, we came down to a stop on the 40 due to construction, we were moving around **** mph when the Expedition started to shake, it felt like it was going to turn off. The dash lights were very dim and the left signal stopped working. Due to the continues fumes, I had to drive with the windows down, because the defroster did not work. It was incredibly dangerous and unsafe but thank God we made it to our destination. The following day the Expedition got worst, the smell of the fumes got so bad we started coughing and it would shake even more. We called Phoenix Car Rental at 3:18pm on December 4th and we explained the car's condition and they advised us to use a rag to clean the windshield and they would refund us the rag. We were concerned about not making it back home, and that's all they said to us. On the December 5th we drove back under the same condition, my family and I inhaling the fumes for hours. When we got home around 6pm, my oldest son complained about a headache and my 2- year old would not stop coughing, When we returned the car the morning of December 6th, and we told them about the issue the man on the front desk told us he couldn't help us that we had to call the head of customer service, the next day. after 9am. We have tried calling but he isn't available the times we have called. We have videos.
