Ms. ******* was an Aspen University student between December 2021 and May 2022. When she withdrew from the university, she had an outstanding balance of $288 and did not bring the balance to $0. (Note that the account identified within the complaint does not apply to Aspen University.) In summer 2023, Aspen conducted an internal routine review of accounts. Ms. ******* was noticed via email about the $288 balance due in early August 2023 but did not respond. As such, she was sent to our Collections Team in October 2023. The Collections Team made numerous attempts via email and phone to connect with Ms. ******* but was unsuccessful. After 60 days, the Collections Team notified her credit reporting company of the unpaid amount.Since receiving this complaint, the Collections Team again attempted to reach Ms. ******* about her overdue invoice but continued to be unsuccessful. While Aspen expects that its former students will pay their overdue balances, in good faith Aspen has written off Ms. ******* debt, removed her from Collections, and notified the credit report company of the same.

Withdrew from this university June 2021. I was issued a refund from them the same month. August of 2023, I received a support ticket email regarding my withdrawal and my balance. I replied that I didn't submit a ticket and hadn't attended the school in over 2 years. I received a follow-up email stating that the ticket had been resolved. There was no further communication from Aspen. October 2023, I received notice that the balance has been submitted to collections - I contested. I contacted Aspen demanding a withdrawal from collections, for fear of damaging my credit, along with an account review. They ignored the communication and referred me to the debt collectors. The debt collectors called in November 2023, for fear of damaging my credit while I am trying to purchase a house, I paid the amount in full.

************* withdrew from Aspen University in June 2021. A portion of the charges for the two courses dropped in week 4 of 8-week courses were refunded to her as a tuition and fee refund according to policy. Following that refund, she maintained a balance of $472 which remained unpaid. Aspen conducted an internal routine review of accounts in summer 2023. ************** was noticed via email about the balance in early August 2023 but did not respond. As such, she was sent to our Collections Team in October 2023 and promptly communicated with an Academic Advisor at that time who directed her to discuss the situation with the Collections Team. She then paid her balance on November 10, 2023. The Assistant Vice President for Student Finance spoke to her directly and shared our appreciation for the payment of her balance and her honest feedback on her situation. ************** expressed her appreciation for the call.

****************** was due a refund for specific classes that did not transfer to *********** when Aspen University discontinued its BSN Pre-licensure program for those in the ***************** component of the program. Aspen processed the financial appeal on December 16, 2022 and the student was notified. I attend Aspen University. At the beginning of my time I signed a contract detailing exactly how much I would pay. I payed my full balance frequently and zeroed out my account. A week later the charged me another 100 dollars. I called and spoke to someone and they said it was their fault and they would be reimbursing. That was a week ago and they have not. They will no longer answer phone or email. They charged me more money then I was contractually obliged to.

Aspen University has a one-time graduation fee of $100 that all students are charged at the time of graduation.  This fee is listed on the Aspen website as well as in each students enrollment agreement, which is signed at the time of initial enrollment in the program. An audit of policy, procedure, and practice confirmed that the charge in question is the one-time graduation fee that all students are charged and that our finance team followed protocol in their handling of this students charges.  If the student would like to review her charges in detail, she can contact our finance team and they will review all charges and payments with her.
