              My deductible is $1,600 until medical benefits start. My online portal says I have met my deductible. This has been a through combination of doctor's visits and prescription medications, with the assistance of manufacturer coupons. Yet, when I attempted to fill my next prescription, I was told I owe more than I expected because I hadn't yet met my deductible. BCBSAZ stated that any assistance with manufacturer coupons will not be applied to my deductible (otherwise known as a copay accumulator program). WA state (my state of residence) and AZ state (BCBSAZ's place of business) have banned copay accumulator programs. Therefore, BCBSAZ's practices of enforcing copay accumulators is illegal. I request that they adhere to state law, and not enforce their illegal copay accumulator program, effectively attempting to "double dip", receiving payments for medications from the manufacturer and the patient. In the end, this only serves to enrich the profits of health groups, payers, and pharmaceutical companies across the country, while taking exorbitant amounts of money away from the patient who is receiving lifesaving medication.

              If I could give zero stars I would. The web portal administration is under serving this companys client base. Communication between internal teams and clients provides for a dismissive, invalidating, and un compassionate experience.
