I used the Roomster site originally from approx Jan 2024 until Feb 2024. Without any luck, I canceled my plan. On April 29th I received an email from roomster (attached) stating a new message is waiting for me. Anxious to find a renter, I looked into the message and found that to view, I had to pay a reinstall payment and I did (attached). Once I was able to access the site... there was no message from a potential renter, just empty fields to set up an account for a new listing. Completely unacceptable attempt for business and I feel it's very misleading. I like many others are already having a tough time making ends meet and to be preyed upon is devastating. The $29 I paid to "reinstall" my account caused an overdraft in my account leading to return charges. While it was my choice to pay the fee, I did so with hopes that the payoff of finding a renter would outweigh a return fee. I was wrong, but so is Roomster. Im sure to many $29 might not be much, but there are many of us that having $29 would be amazing. Just imagine if Roomster uses this "tactic" a couple hundred times a month to make false profit... Im not so sure thats good business.Thank you. *************************

The website does not work. I have contacted six people and none of them have responded. I then decided to contact the company through the website and get an error. Waste of money and would like a refund.

I used this service to find a roommate for an upcoming move to **. I was contacted on the site by a possible roommate situation. I ended up getting scammed out of $1000 for a security deposit from a client registered on their platform. While I understand that the action of one of their customers is not necessarily their responsibility, the fact that this person was even given access, without any kind of scrutiny along the lines of verification, to me is absolutely absurd. Im seeking immediate action to recoupe my loss suffered by the fact that I simply used their product.

      Hello,

It's unfortunate that you ran into a scammer on the site. We do our best to keep them at bay.

We do have a Report/Block option on every profile and message to assist in alerting the **************** in removing those users that should not be on the site.

You do have the option to request users complete the ** verification on their profile and there are Safety Tips posted in the message center to also assist in having a safe transaction. Please report this person to our customer service at ********************* so they can remove them if they have not already been removed.

All monetary transactions with the user you choose to contact are done outside of the website and those payments are made directly to the user you contacted and not **********************. You will have to dispute that transaction through the avenue you paid in order to recoup your money.

We hope you are able to get your money back and get the situation resolved. If you have additional questions please contact us at *********************.

I paid for a three day VIP membership trying to look for another roommate situation. That membership allows me to send and receive messages from other people on roommates.com. The app keeps telling me that I have to verify my email address in order to send and receive messages. I have verified my email multiple times yet I still keep getting the same error message. I have paid for a service that I cannot use due to this glitch and have gotten zero support from roommates.com. I have tried chat support, leaving messages, and emails keep telling me unable to deliver, and feel like I have been scammed.

      Hello,

Per our phone conversation earlier, you will need to add our email ********************* to unblock us on your email. This should correct the issue that you are having. Once you have unblocked us then we can extend your membership that you paid for so you receive the full time you paid for.

Let us know once you have this fixed by emailing us at ********************* and we will be happy to extend your membership.

      Hello,

A member's personal preferences do not determine whether or not a profile is removed from the site.  Profiles are removed for violating our Terms of Service or more likely due to them being a scammer. All messages that were sent out from any account found to be fraudulent are removed to safeguard our members.

Know that keeping our members safe is a priority. We hope you find a roommate soon.

IT'S FUNNY TAHT ONLY GAY PEOPLE ARE THE **** WITH FRAUDULENT ACCOUNTS AND STRAIGHT PEOPLE HAVE OK ACCOUNTS. AGAIN 2 MORE GAY REPLYS WERE DELETED

      Business response

      11/24/2021

      Hello,

Scammers could be targeting members that have certain preferences on their profiles, but the website does not take into consideration those preferences when deciding if a member is a scammer and needs to be removed from the site.

The site removes all sent messages from accounts that are removed from the site due to fraudulent activity to protect our legitimate members. If there are messages that are removed in your message center then they were not members you would want to continue having a transaction with. Again, the site does this to protect our legitimate members.

If you have additional questions please contact us at [email protected].

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

They say that first it is from non members how would they know what there responders intentions are, are roommates.com mind readers? and they say members they have free members and paid members  and the ones they are not allowing to reply are the free members who should be able to respond to a paid member but because they are gay free members they re not allowed!! but as roommate.com says they are mind readers and know who are fraudulent tell me how? they are lieing and wasteing my money of my membership on this PREJUDICE AGAINST GAY PEOPLE

      Hello,

Again, race, gender, and sexual preferences have no bearing on removing a scammer. It's unfortunate that you are not happy with how the site works. It might be time to look into other roommate sites to find one that works better for you.

The site will not be changing its fraud policies, but we have refunded your November 2021 payment of $15.99 back to your card.

Good luck in your roommate search.

what are thay talking about fraud practices when they don't read minds about what a person is replying to my post. They did admit that they were not a paying membership what is the fraud in not being a member? And the fact that they were gay wanting to live with another gay person. The site also claims FREE ROOMMATE SERVICES SO WERE DOES IT DTATE YOU MUST BE A MEMBER TO REPLY? REFUNDING MY MEMBERSHIP THEY ADMIT WRONG DOIBG ON THEERE PART FOR NIT PERFORMING THE SERVICE AS CONTRACTED TO PERFORM AND NOT ALLOWING GAY PEOPLE TO REPLY INSTEAD OF CALLING THEM FRAUDULENT
