The following is a statement from my step-daughter's boyfriend, *******************, who took her car in for an oil change:"Alright so on the fifth or the sixth of May 2023, I went to the Valvoline in *************** in the first couple hours of them being open for the day. My oil check light had been on for a day or two beforehand. There were a couple cars in front of me. It was decently busy. After about ***** minutes I was asked to pull into the garage. Before opening the hood or checking anything, one of the engineers checked my previous oil change sticker. He asked me the miles on my vehicle and told me that I was under the amount on the sticker and explained that even though the date on the sticker said to get it changed I didn't need to because I hadn't reached the miles. I am a new driver of just starting last year in 2022 so I don't have much knowledge of cars. I asked what I should do because the oil light is on and he said I didn't technically need an oil change and if it was him, he wouldn't do it. So I said alright and headed out without them ever opening the hood of my car. On May 22nd, the car started making noises it doesn't normally. My girlfriend's stepdad took a look at the car and when he checked the oil it was empty. He put some oil in it and I left to take it to Valvoline in ************ my way there, the car broke down and we had it towed to Cien Autobody." The vehicle is a 2007 ****** Camry. I, ********** spoke with the Area Manager for the business, *******, regarding the issue and he advised that there was surveillance cameras that has captured the incident and shows that the tech didn't never popped the hood. A rep for Valvoline went to the Bodyshop 2 days later and inspected the car. ******* never called me to tell me what they figured out. **** from the Bodyshop did and told me that the engine had seized and needs to be replaced. I called and texted ******* 3 times before he finally answered the phone and told me they dismissed my claim.Initial Complaint

Went in for just a basic easy to do oil change since we were going on a trip up north and didn't have enough time to do it myself.So here I am thinking all is good, fresh oil change good to go, wrong..We make it up to ********** and I smell burning oil, after further inspection I realize its my car and the workers at Valvoline didn't bother checking if the dip stick was inserted and seated properly.My 2019 vehicle was over a quart of oil low, there's oil all in the engine bay, all under the car and all over the pavers out front of my house, Ive called and called and the only thing they have done is refund me for the oil change, never get back to me and I have to keep calling them... really? we have a much bigger problem, I could have motor damage from towing 5 thousand pounds through the mountains because your employees don't know what they are doing. Im submitting to BBB and whatever I need to do further to get this resolved.Business response

BBB,We contacted ************************* on September 30th. **** communicated to us that his service was done by a store located at *********************** in ******* ** 85024.This location is not part of my organization. **** understood that he filed the complaint for the wrong company.**** is willing to remove the complaint.
