NOTE: Business address you have on file for this Business is old - see attached quote for current. I am a homeowner who on 4-17-24 accepted a quote from Hardrives, LLC, contractor Thomas C****** AZ Contractor License #322705, to prep & install an asphalt driveway per the specifications of his attached quote. We met twice on-site to go over job specifications. He performed the work 5/20-24/24. Upon completing, he presented me with the contract attached. I did not see it before completion and I did not see the backside text until I just happened to notice them 3 wks. later. At the time of receiving the contract, the job looked ok to my inexperienced eye and I signed it and paid in full. Upon examination the next day or two I noticed that it looked much thinner than the 3.5" agreed and some of the surface was loose, poorly compacted. I met onsite with the contractor a few days after completion and he said I didn't know asphalt and everything was done properly and as quoted. I hired a highly credentialed inspection and certification company, MTI, to core and inspect the work. Their report is attached. The asphalt was insufficiently compacted and laid only 2" thick. Core #7 was only an inch thick! 7 of 8 core samples were non-compliant to industry standard. Because compaction is non-compliant (both sub-base and asphalt itself), an overlay of 1.5" will not hold up per MTI. They advised that the asphalt must be torn-out and job redone properly. Just 2 wks. after completion, some areas of the drive are failing. I advised the contractor that there are two options: 1) promptly remove and properly replace the asphalt at his full expense and with compliant procedures, OR 2) refund my money and I'll hire a competent contractor to remove and install a compliant driveway. I would prefer #2 since this contractor has not demonstrated the skills or intent to do the job properly. The contractor refused these two options and only offered to "patch". We had Asphalt placed around 5/2021 and have been trying to get ahold of the ***** *************************** for the past 5-6 months to complete warranty work. The project is warranted for 2 years according to when we got it placed down and the owner, after over 7 calls has been non-response to returning any calls to see what the issue is and evaluate for warranty work. We are looking to get the cracks taken care of as well as some other work to be completed after we had to remove some of the work that was completed due to an issue that he wasn't response to help come and fix. We are not looking for compensation, only repair of the issues.
