Cape Law has been derelict in advising on my legal matter. They served the wrong entity, were unresponsive with respect to my court preparation. I am being threatened with the incorrectly served defendant who not wants the judgement withdrawn.Business Response

I have reached out to your firm more than half a dozen times without receiving a response. I can document this. I repeatedly asked for what to expect in the court filing CL filed and even then CL didnt respond. Your comment to me seems to suggest you were provided incorrect information. Let me correct this: I provided business name, address and principal owner. ** on its own determined the entity to serve. After I received the service process failure I immediately notified CL. I received a response more than a month later, after which the matter had already been heard.
This isnt a simple oversight. This is the consistent disregard of a clients best interest. When someone hires legal counsel, they want legal advice, not simple form filing.

I paid $879 to ******** on July 16, ********************************************* Broward county court. The amount is inclusive of all court filling fees. A ******** **** was assigned to the case from the ************** The statement of claim was prepared which i approved for filling. Since then i have been given several excuses about not being able to file the case as Broward county clerk of the court keeps rejecting it. Each time i would be told that they will attempt to file the case again and weeks would go by without receiving any communication on the status. My final communication with them was on 12/18 where they asked for my phone number. Since then even after several attempts to get a final status thru emails i have received no response. Finally i decided to go travel to Ft Lauderdale Broward county court and file the case myself. I spent $317 for court filling fees and $40 to ********************** for servicing fees all of which were included in the amount already paid to ********. I am requesting a refund from ******** for the money paid to themBusiness Response

Hi ******,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback. Were truly sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with our service.
We want to clarify that we kept you informed each time the clerk rejected the filingan issue that was beyond our control. Despite these challenges, we are glad you were ultimately able to move forward using and filing the very documents Cape Law prepared for you, which confirms the legal service provided was accurate and effective.
We have processed a refund of the court filing and serving fees in the amount of $529. However, a refund for the legal service itself is not applicable, given that the documents we drafted were used to advance your case.
While we are saddened that your experience was not as you had hoped, we sincerely wish you success moving forward.

Dont spend your money with cape law. I had a terrible experience with them. **** ****** was put on my case. But he was neutral from the start. I told him points that I felt were important in my case but he decided to ignore all that. Of course he lost the case. I never felt he defended me. He was just neutral. And I didnt pay someone thousands of dollars just to be neutral. Even to this day I paid for a 20min phone call. It literally only lasted 4 minutes and he agreed to send an email to the business I sued because theyre wanting to take more money than what the court ordered. He still doesnt care. Its all very neutral. Never felt like he defended me. AT ALL! Dont bother. Terrible experience with cape law.Business Response

Dear Ms. ********************************** you for sharing your feedback. We understand your frustration and are saddened that your experience did not meet expectations. Its always our goal to provide supportive and professional legal assistance.

It does not appear you opted to sign up for our Cape Coverage membership, which includes free monthly attorney calls and discounted legal services, we still aim to provide value through the services you selected. Regarding the recent 20-minute phone call, we apologize if it fell short of expectations - we have processed a refund for the call as a sign of our commitment to your satisfaction.

I hired Cape Law Firm to help me filing a small claims court case in ******* because I live in ************. Every time I turn around they are charging me more and more money. They have mishandled my case which resulted in my case being dismissed. The attorney did not do what she was paid to do. On November 3rd AFTER paying for a phone call from my attorney, I was informed I did not have to fly to ******* for court on November 6th. I am out travel expenses which were not refundable. I was asked to follow up with the court myself after every filing (which I did) and I emailed my attorney after every conversation I had with the courts. There was never any follow through with my attorney and she did not care that all she did was put me further in debt after being devestated by the moving company stealing all my belongings. My case was dismissed due to negligence of the attorneyBusiness Response

Dear ********,
Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. While we empathize with your frustration, we must clarify some inaccuracies in your review.
Our records reflect consistent communication between you and our office, including interactions with both case managers and the attorney assigned to your case. The primary issue with your matter is the lack of a valid address for your defendant. As weve previously explained, we are not a private investigative firm; our role is to facilitate service to the address provided by our clients.
Every service you selected was an informed decision, including discussions with the attorney who explained the scope of the service and its associated pricing. Each transaction, including those involving the Palm Beach County Courts, was confirmed in writing and shared with you.
Additionally, the attorney offered to assist further, free of charge, as a gesture of goodwill given the unexpected outcome. While we understand this may not align with the resolution you had hoped for, misdirected blame is unwarranted.
All services were rendered as agreed, leaving your case ineligible for a refund. For further reconsideration of court-related matters, we encourage you to contact the clerks office directly.
We truly saddened that the experience did not meet your expectations and wish you the best moving forward.
Sincerely,

My main complaint has been NO proactivity by the attorney. She does not communicate with me in a timely manner and I have had to pay for multiple phone calls to prompt action on her part. And the dismissal occurred because an order was filed incorrectly and she did not follow up. I had NO way to know there was an issue with the way she filed because the court notified Cape Law. Not me. I appreciate that she drafted the motion to set aside dismissal without charge- because she caused it. I just wish that it had been explained to me that I would not have an attorney for more than filling out paperwork. I believed I would have an attorney who would be helping me.
please consider how you speak to clients before they sink hundred of dollars into your services. I should not have had to pay for a call to find out I didnt need to fly to ******* for a court appearance. I should not have had to make 15 phone calls to correct a filing error. Im going to court for being taken advantage of, and dont feel like anyone is on my side. Even the person I am paying for help. Its demoralizingBusiness Response

Dear Ms. **************************** appreciate your feedback and want to address your points thoroughly and respectfully.
Our services are designed to provide affordable, a la carte legal assistance, tailored to the specific needs of our clients. When you informed us of your requirements, we offered to assist with the appropriate legal documents and processes. Once these services were completed, our obligation to you was fulfilled. Unlike traditional attorneys who charge retainers and provide ongoing, proactive communication, we offer discounted legal resources that clients prepay for. This model was explained during your initial engagement and detailed in the agreement you signed upon enrollment.
We understand your frustration regarding communication, but the claim of ********************************** our records. Nevertheless, we will use your feedback regarding the nature of our services and the communication request.
Regarding the dismissal of your case, its important to clarify that the order was not filed incorrectly; rather, it was not accepted by the judgea decision outside our control. The inability to serve your defendant due to an unknown location remains the primary reason for the dismissal. Locating and serving your defendant is crucial to proceeding with your case. It is our hope you are able to locate the person whom you have the dispute with. We explained that we do not provide location services, and tried to assist with the resources we have.
We also recognize how disheartening this process can feel. Please know that our attorneys time and expertise were dedicated to your case, and the motion to set aside the dismissal was completed at no additional charge as a courtesy, not because wrongdoing occurred. We wish you the best as you continue your journey to justice.

I contacted capelaw for a ***** issue regarding my sidewalk contractor. They come up in ****** search and thought of having a quick consultation. Don't get fooled by the cool website or their interface. Don't do anything. They send out a automated slot with one of their attorneys. Had re-schedule options on the email and text received. So I had to re-schedule due to family being sick ...I couldn't connect with the attorney. I dropped in a line ..as I was not able to do anything self service for re-scheduling when the emails indicated I can. I had paid $29 for the initial fee. When following up I was told that just for rescheduling I need to pay $29. This is shady practices. I send out n number of emails requesting a refund and explaining my case. Based on personal experience they don't treat their customers with respect and I don't think they will ever grow further. For $29 refund for such a big firm who advertises that they can streamlined legal issues and easy for small claims..doesn't add up. Lost all my trust with them. ********..Business Response

******* claims they can help by sending a demand letter, but in reality, they only draft the letter and dont send it on their letterhead, pressuring clients to upgrade to their services. They mentioned that upgrading requires additional payment, but failed to disclose that they also take 20% of any settlement, which is in the contract but was never communicated to me. To make matters worse, their attorney turned out to be problematic, and they later admitted they aren't qualified to handle employment matters. If they couldnt take my case, why did they accept payment and refuse to refund me for the demand letter they prepared? It's completely unreasonablean attorney should only accept cases within their area of expertise.I demand full refund of all the fees as a resolution.Business Response

Subject: Clarification and Support Regarding Your Case
Dear Ziheng Song,
Thank you for sharing your concerns. I understand how frustrating it can be when things don’t go as expected, and I want to take a moment to provide some clarity.
It appears there may have been a misunderstanding regarding the completion of your demand letter. Unfortunately, without necessary communication from your side and your decision to cancel, we were unable to finalize the letter. Once complete, all demand letters include our official letterhead and the attorney’s signature, but they are only provided once fully drafted and approved.
Additionally, I’d like to clarify how our services work. Our approach is different from traditional attorneys who may charge retainers or success fees. We offer a transparent, a la carte model, meaning you only pay for the services you choose, based on your specific needs.
Lastly, I want to reassure you that we processed your refund promptly after your request. Please allow 3-5 business days for it to reflect in your account.
We appreciate your understanding, and we wish you all the best as you continue on your path to justice.
Warm regards,

Created 4/8/2024 -- CapeLaw filed my complaint, but continues to drop the ball in terms of handling proof of service, and amended complaints. I hired them to help me with a bad workmanship case. I paid $460.00 in total. They never provided any updates. I had to keep inquiring and all I got was excuses. "Texas courts are currently facing a backlog " 10/24/2023. No one ever responds - all I get is an automated email saying "Someone will reach out to you". Eventually my case was thrown out for "lack of prosecution". Asked for refund multiple times - months go by and no response.Business Response

Signed up for service to aid me in a legal issue. Took a while to get my first call with a lawyer which was nearly worthless because before the lawyer could work my case I was told he left and I had to wait a few weeks for a new one. Once the new lawyer was assigned it took a few weeks to get a review of the demand letter. Once I approved the letter they took a while to mail it out. Once it was mailed they sent me the tracking information. After a week I noticed tracking said they were still waiting for Cape Law to turn the letter over. I asked and a few days later I was given a new tracking number. The *********** was not able to deliver the letter and after waiting 2 weeks for the post office to try and deliver again I contacted Cape Law and asked what to do. They said they would resend the letter. A few days later they again sent me a tracking number that shows they never sent the letter.I opened a case with the post office and they were able to locate the certified letter and were able to deliver it. As expected the target of the letter ignored it. I wrote to ask about the next steps(After 14 days) I was told at this point all I could do was take them to small claims court. They asked if I would like help filing the case which I replied yes, to let me know the charge. After 2 weeks I have given up hearing back from them. At this point, I'll just do everything myself. The letter they sent wasn't that different from the letter I sent when the event happened. This service was worthless to me.Business Response

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration you experienced with our service. We understand that timely and effective legal support is crucial, and we are working tirelessly to improve our services to the highest standard.
We thoroughly reviewed your case to address properly to all your concerns.
We see that it took two weeks from when you signed up to have a call with an attorney. Since then, we have significantly improved our waiting times, enabling clients to book appointments much faster.
As for your demand letter - we want to kindly clarify that when the attorney made the offer for that, the scope of the service was mentioned on your account, saying that the estimated time frame for the demand letter preparation can take over 30 business days. From the time you purchased the service, we have implemented changes to ensure that every aspect of the offer is clearly communicated to our clients.
Although we were unable to commit to a faster delivery time, we aimed to provide the service as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, the attorney handling your case left our firm. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this caused. Despite this, we managed to complete your demand letter faster than the initially mentioned timeframe.
Regarding the mailing of your letter, we apologize for the delay and the issues you experienced. We have implemented changes to ensure faster and more effective delivery in the future. Additionally, we acknowledge the miscommunication on our part later in the process and apologize for that as well. This does not reflect the standard of service we strive for.
Your feedback is sincerely important to us and is taken seriously. To compensate for the inconvenience caused, we have issued a refund for the two monthly subscription payments you made, totaling $98.
We apologize again for your experience. We wish you the best of luck with your case and hope youll give us the opportunity to better serve you in the future.Customer Answer

I was charged a fee for filing documents in a court. After paying my fee of about 375 the company informed me that they cannot file my documents in court because prices has gone up. Previously to tell me that they emailed me and told me that my documents were already filed in the court. Deliberately lying to me and telling me to go do something that I could have not been charged for and done myself very misleading.
