Great site I advertised my room took some pictures what county I lived in and got a bunch of matches of people looking for a room in my area I would highly recommend this site for people looking to rent out a room and I used the free part of the site and had good luck I had quite a few good people contact me ****

I have tried Roomates.com twice. I have never received any "real" inquiries. All the inquiries I have received have been fraudsters.... All want to send a "check" to you before getting the in depth info on the room or before seeing the room! Roomates does not have anywhere where I can actually notify them of these profiles that are linked to fraud... So they apparently are endorsing these types of scams... I wish that I had remembered my experience from before as it was years ago or I never would have wasted my time or money! ITS A HARD PASS! IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD

Tried this site 3 times in a few months. No luck. After your subscription is up you get a ton of contacts, favorites, messages etc. Log back in and nothing. Total rip.

You are welcome to put your contact information in the free messages that you can send to all members so that only one of you have to pay for a membership in order to communicate outside of the website. We have no control over when or if someone chooses to send you a message, but again you always have the option to reply to the message with your contact information without reading the incoming message if you don't want to pay for a membership. Unfortunately, it seems like a complete scam so far. When you look at first, there are several potential roommates that *** meet your needs. So you sign up, thinking, 'Okay. Maybe I'll find a room that works for me.' Not. I paid the $20 one month fee, and in the last week I have not had one 'match'. When I did finally get one, it said, 'This member's profile is not valid.' Don't do it.

Roommate from Hell! She gave me a check when she moved in. The check wasnt good no such bank. Took me three months to get her out after she damaged my stuff. I had to go to Courthouse to eviction her out of my house. ( I was afraid to leave her alone in my house, gave power of attorney to a friend so her could file on my behalf)She didnt have a job ( lied about having a job) was high on pills, left my stove on luckily she didnt burn my house down! Dirty unsanitary things in the room cut my cable cord had to take cable guy into her room . The day she moved took buckets of water and soaked both twin beds in that room! The police walked her out of the house when eviction was up..Filed a law suit against her. Others beware of a *************** was eating my food as well, left the room a mess. Had to throw out all the furniture in that room. She should of been screened better to get on this site! Do a background check yourself and be safe. ????

Hopefully, You will come to this site before you pay roomnates.com. I tried it for about a week without the subscription, and almost every day I received **** matches, but could not read the messages if you are not a paid member. Once I paid the $20.00, lord and behold lol ALL matches stop coming. hahahha. They got me. Now the matches you find are the same, or fake profiles. Don't pay Roommates.com to find a suitable tenant. Keep your money and go elsewhere.

If you waited a week to respond to messages it is possible they either found a roommates already and removed their account or the fraud department removed the account if it was found to be fraudulent. All fake. This website is a total scam. I dont understand how they get away with stealing peoples money. 90% of the profiles are fake with people trying to scam you out of money (send me the deposit first and then Ill show you the place - hahaha yeah sure Ill get right on it). I give one star because I did not have a zero value choice. Unfortunately, my experience with this service has been terrible. Roommates has many fake profiles. I have been approached by three people, all with dubious personal and work backgrounds. Their profiles though look quite different and acceptable. They are even willing to speak to you on the phone and even meet ***. Once they make their initial contact with you, a half of dozen problems begin to surface that were never mentioned. Their tone becomes incredibly rude, messages are not answered and/or filled with ambiguity. Once these con artists play their role and receive their compensation for their performance, they become abruptly extremely rude without any clear reason. I'm educated and I do not neglect any details in any potential roommate. However, roommates.com and his slew of con artists has made this process a highly traumatic experience for me. This to keep me on this site looking for a roommate and of course paying a subscription. Shame on you Roommates.com for profiting in such a dishonest manner. First person displaying such odd behavior, I let it go and explained it away as emotional or personal instability. This is the 3rd or 4th strike though. Too many coincidences. Moreover, I NEVER get contacted by anyone who is actually.able to meet the requirements. That's impossible. I have been in roommates since October. My space is very cute, clean, awesome neighborhood. As a teacher, I relate well to people. I don't think my profile is actually being made available to prospective renters. Roommates is conducting a very corrupt activity disguised as a legitimate business. I will make sure to get the word out in social media.
