I purchased a flight through STA Travel Agency in 2020. As it became clear that I would not be able to travel in March of 2020, I called STA Travel and they cancelled my trip. They offered to put the entire cost of my flight into a credit stored in their system for me to redeem within 1-2 years. I accepted this offer. Months later, I tried called STA Travel to book another flight and struggled to find their phone number or website. I quickly realized that the had filed for bankruptcy. I had not been notified. I have not been able to get this money back through my bank whose credit card I used to purchase the flight. By the time I had realized they'd gone bankrupt, the 120 days had already passed for me to be able to submit my claim. The total cost of my flight was just under $1000 dollars.
