  VCA is training their veterinarians to encourage/recommend euthanasia instead of providing care for their patients. I brought my dog in after discovering he had blood in his stool. Before any intervention, ******************** wanted to get his records from his primary vet. As she was waiting, she informed me, without doing an ultrasound there would be no way to determine the cause for the ** bleed. After she received his records and learned he had metastatic cancer, she only assumed the bleed was due to his cancer and said he required surgical intervention. However, due to the extent of the cancer, she did not recommend surgical intervention and told me the best option would be euthanasia. I told the doctor, even if I decided to take that route, it would not be during this visit. She told me that I would be leaving against medical advice. As a healthcare professional, she took an oath to not only treat animals, but do it in an ethical manner. She **** her own conclusions with zero intervention. She took absolutely nothing into consideration including the value of my dogs life, my dogs well being, and my autonomy to make my own sound decisions regarding the next steps while giving her baseless opinion. She truly made me feel like I had no time left with my dog. After a couple of days, my dogs condition improved. My dog was taken to his primary vet and it was concluded that his ** bleed was due to a **** plug being inserted during a CT scan prior to this visit. Had I listened to her and believed that the ** bleed would only get worse, my dog would not be with me today. She was way out of line with her theories she neglected to properly diagnose. No healthcare professional has the right to draw conclusions without doing their due diligence. I am truly disgusted with the way my dogs treatment, or lack there of, was handled. Her practice needs to be investigated before this happens to another family and makes them believe their dog does not have a chance at survival.
