My family and I (began with 2 adults 3 children but is now 3 adults and 2 children) have been renting a home from Sierra Shadows realty since December of 2017, and have experienced a slew of issues that our landlord refuses to address. When we first moved in there was not a working refrigerator or stove, the refrigerator smelled like sulfur and mold and had was damaged, causing us to have to pay out of pocket for appliances that were supposed to come with the property. We then began noticing structural problems right away that we made Kathy aware of, nothing was done about it. We began having roof leaks around July of 2019 in various areas, the AC vent over our bedroom door, the ceiling in another bedroom, the ceiling in our bedroom over our bed (which was brand new at the time and is now water damaged) and the ceiling in the hallway being the worst leaking consistently due to rain and the EVAP cooler not working properly. She blamed it on the cooler which had non stop issues beginning summer of 2018 and continuing up until 2021. In August of 2021 the ceiling in the hallway (where the leak was the worst) caved in causing not only a huge mess but also a huge hole in the ceiling. My family then began experiencing a cough as well as other health issues due to mold exposure from mold in the insulation. In November of 2021 I was forced to relocate my mother into our home due to severe medical issues including dementia. This issue has now caused her health issues as well, as well as safety concerns due to the constant ceiling leak. We finally were forced to contact the city of Sierra Vista and code enforcement who came out and stated that the house is uninhabitable and the ceiling needed to be fixed as soon as possible. She had her maintenance guy come out and put a mold resistant tile backing up instead of drywall. Once the work was completed she stated we were stressing out the homeowners and we need to be out by the end of February.
