On 6/23/2024 I received a letter to transfer my warranty from the prior owner to me, having just moved into my house. The prior owner did not have a warranty that needed to be transferred. In my opinion, this is a deceptive business practice that must be stopped. How many more complaints do you need about this company before you take action?

      Dear ******,

Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing your concerns. We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience caused by our recent letter regarding the transfer of the termite warranty.

At Termio Pest Control, we offer free termite warranties to select groups of new homeowners as a complimentary service. This warranty is not dependent on the prior owner having one; it is a new benefit provided to you upon purchasing your home. The intent is to offer you peace of mind and protection against any termite issues that *** arise at no cost to you.

We understand how the offer might have been misinterpreted, and we are truly sorry if it came across as deceptive. Our goal is to provide valuable services to homeowners, not to cause any frustration. We appreciate your feedback and will review our communication methods to ensure clarity and transparency in the future.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at ************. We would be happy to assist you with the warranty transfer process or address any other queries you *** have.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We value your input and hope to have the opportunity to serve you.

      Sincerely,

      *************************

My complaint is similar to others here, so I will omit a lot of the details. Suffice it to say, Termio learned through public records that we recently purchased a new home. They then misrepresented that there was active coverage of the home that needed to be transferred to us. It was convincing enough to get me to go to the site, which then tried to get me to pay for services. I've since contacted them and asked them to quit sending me their scammy spam, which has yet to happen, as evidenced by the attached letter dated 3/19 and received today, 4/4. I'll be reaching out to them directly one more time to demand that they stop. Any further attempts to contact me or my family will be treated as harassment and forwarded to the appropriate authorities.

      Dear *************************

Im sorry you do not like the way we market our services. We felt that the industry's traditional way of forcing customers to buy expensive preventive termite treatments before getting a termite warranty to protect their home did not align with our mission to "make pest control about people." That is why we have created a termite warranty program that allows people to transfer it when moving, gift to friends or neighbors, and, in select areas, receive one upon completion of a qualified termite inspection (WDIIR) all free of charge. We offer this service at no cost, hoping everyone can experience what a fantastic group of people we have here and decide to stay with us. I can assure you that our free warranty is precisely just that, with no secondary motives. When the warranty runs out, you can renew it for a cost, but there is no obligation to do so. We are very proud of what we do here but we are always open to feedback on communicating this. When you informed us that you did not want to continue any relationship with our company we had all your contract information removed so you should not receive any further correspondence form us. If you have any further questions or suggestions, I would love to discuss this with you further.

      Thank you for your time.

Your response is as disingenuous, if not outright deceptive, as your way of doing business. The complaint history for your business, and the fact you copied and pasted your response from prior complaints, tells me how often you get these types of complaints. Keep up appearances on the internet if you must but we both know exactly what kind of operation this is. No warranty as the term is legally defined exists on this property. You use that language as bait knowing full well that people think they're getting something they didn't realized they were ***********. In other words, you use the fact people thing they're getting something for free to bring them in and then you hope there are a enough suckers that give you payment in thre to make it worth your time. I've had emails from Nigerian princes and crypto tycoons with more scruples than you.

      *************************,

Again, I am so sorry that you did not like how we market our services. Nothing I say seems to be resonating with you, but I can assure you our termite warranty is a very simple and straightforward transaction. If customers get termites while under service, we will treat them for free (no deductible or payment due). When the year ends, if the homeowner chooses not to renew, they owe nothing to us, and the account automatically closes, ending their coverage. New homeowners in any of the situations I mentioned earlier can receive our termite warranty and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with it.

We do this hoping people will add or consider us for more pest services after experiencing our fantastic team. We make little to no money on this service, but we believe in our team so much that we know that once people see how we treat them and their homes, they will come to us for all their other pest control needs.

When I was first considering a position with this company, I saw the same reviews you referenced in your ****** review and had similar concerns. After doing my research and speaking with the people at the company, I learned that Termio is about as far from a scam as you can get.

I believe in our people so much that I would be more than happy to send one of our service professionals to your home for a free pest control service so you can see the difference. This service would be free and without any strings attached. If you are not comfortable with this, I also understand.

I hope you accept my offer, but if not, I wish you the best in finding a pest control company that better fits you.

      Sincerely,

I signed my contract with Termio in March 2023. They tried to schedule my inspection immediately thereafter, but had just been out in August 2022 so I asked them to wait. They never called back to schedule at an appropriate time, so I scheduled in December 2023 for my inspection. They did not show up in the window and did not call or apologize when I called to reschedule. Today, they called 30 minutes into my window to say they couldn't make it after I rescheduled another appointment to be here for them. I called the main service number to tell them this was not okay and the agent said she was on with the person's manager who would make sure they would show up in my window. Didn't happen. Termio also sent me repeated emails at one point in this period telling me I had to sign a renewal contract part way through the year. It was presented as if I hadn't signed the original contact. I had to call them to find out it was an error.Termio has repeatedly wasted my time, and despite my good faith efforts has not provided me with an inspection during my coverage period. Without an inspection, there's no way for me to make a termite coverage claim.Due to the lack of any service and the repeated wasting of my time, I am asking for a full refund of my annual fee. Your service was completely lacking and completely unacceptable.

I am so sorry you had such a bad experience, but thank you for taking the time to talk to me yesterday. As we discussed, your inspection is scheduled for 2/21/23 at 8 AM, and your termite warranty covers you through the end of the month. Please let us know if you need anything else or if any issues arise, and we will address them. Thank you!

Last year I received a letter stating my warranty for termite service would expire. I looked up Termio and found that some people had reported this was a scam but others had been happy with the termite inspection service. I booked a visit and paid ~$117. I did not sign up for continued warranty and believed I was done with Termio. I received the same mailing I had the previous year to please schedule my warranty service. As I had not signed up for a warranty I disregarded the notice. I have received an invoice for this years' service. As I signed up for nothing knowingly, I will not be paying. I wanted to let other consumers know to not get sucked into this scam.

      *****************************,

Thank you for contacting us regarding the termite warranty on your home. I apologize that no one from Termio adequately explained how our termite warranty works. The Termite warranty you paid for in 2023 covered your home for all subterranean termite work for one year. If your home had gotten termites within the year, we would have treated your house for free and with no out-of-pocket costs or deductibles.

The renewal invoice you received from us was an optional bill that would have extended this coverage through ****. None of our customers are obligated to renew their warranty as it is 100% optional every year. When you contacted us on 1/16/23 to let us know you did not want to renew your warranty for ****, we closed your account and voided your **** warranty renewal invoice.

I hope this better explains what service you had with us, and if this changes your mind about renewing for ****, please let us know in the next 30 days, and we can reinstate your warranty without your home needing to pass a termite inspection first.

Thank you, and if you have any more questions, please let us know.

This marketing mail below leads the consumer to believe the HOME has a current warranty that only requires a transfer of warranty to be completed. After placing a call to Termio, they could not confirm if the previous owners had a warranty at all. The verbiage in this letter is EXTREMELY MISLEADING and should have legal recourse that the average American can not afford to pursue. How can the letter specifically state "This PROPERTY has termite warranty coverage with Termio through 1/31/2023 when NOTHING has ever been paid to Termio in relation to this address "**** *************************************************" that is listed on the document and the address it was mailed too? As someone who has taken 1 law class (by no means am I a lawyer) I do not understand how this is legal or would continue to be allowed by the Attorney General.

      Business response

      08/18/2022

We market to new homeowners by providing them a free termite warranty on their home when they move in. They can activate it and take advantage of the warranty for the period stated on the letter. If they choose to use this warranty we provided then, we will treat them home under warranty if any termites appear on the home. We are legal allowed to give free termite warranties to people as a free trial. At the end of the free warranty period they have a choice if they want to pay and continue the warranty for another year. I no way have we said the previous home owners had our warranty or that we have done any previous work at the home.

      Customer response

      08/18/2022

A warranty is something that is offered after a consumer has made a purchase. Since no consent for a an exchange of service has been made between the consumer and business, the verbiage warranty is not accurate. Its a horrible marketing technique and the verbiage is on the verge of being illegal, if not already illegal. You are tricking people into thinking that the previous owner had a service through your company. The letter clearly states To get the warranty transferred making the implication that the previous owner had this exact same coverage. I do not think the contents of the letter are legal and they should be changed!

      Business response

      08/19/2022

I apologize for you feeling like we are tricking you into a warranty. According to the ************************* Act we are allowed to provide warranties to homeowners without any purchase of the warranty. We stand behind the warranty and will inspect and treat your home for termites, should termites appear, under the terms of the warranty at no cost to you. We provide the home the warranty during the purchase. The warranty stays on the home so, if you move the warranty stays with the home. This is the reason you have the opportunity to transfer the warranty from the home and take ownership of it. We help many new homeowners by treating their homes free of charge during this warranty period. At the end of the period if it something you saw value in then you can call us and begin paying to renew it year by year. We do not require a card on file or any payment to take advantage of the warranty period you received in the mail.I hope this finds you well.

      Customer response

      08/22/2022

Well, just because you can do something doesnt mean you should. Like I said, a warranty implies an agreement between a seller and a consumer.

When we moved to AZ in June 2019, we had Termio come out to our house. Once. They have been charging us $117 a year for them to do NOTHING. We did NOT sign any contracts. They refunced $117 but they still owe us $117 for the year 2020.

      Business response

      03/07/2022

The termite warranty comes with an annual inspection. No treatment is rendered until termites are found active on the home. We inspected the home on 8/19/18, 3/19/20 and 5/7/21. No refund has been offered due to us completing the inspection and providing their home with a termite warranty during those years. No termite treatment was rendered during the warranty period due to lack of termite activity. If termites were located during the period we would have treated the customers home at no charge.
