May 23/2023 pedicure & root dye job. Only 5 students in cosmo/pedi salon area, no instructors present. No consultation w/ instructor pre or post either treatment. the hair color dye I requested was out of stock. Hair student did not brush hair out before applying a mixed of hair dyes to try and match my hair, in a pedicure chair without any hair cap to protect my clothing from dye dripping down face/ears/clothing, never saw the hair student again, left the building. Nail student's first pedi, she was getting instructions from a youtube video on phone: no hot water, nail brushes, foot files, or white nail polish; student said there was no Nail instructors or supplies for the last month! My hair all knotted/scalp burning/skin stained. Nail student apologized, half the instructors quit because no supplies/explanations/leadership from the school owner Carey White. In tears she explained all the students are in panic/fearful because if the school owner kicks them out for complaining/telling the truth they loose their tuition $, owner could "take away their hours", they would have to take more loans to start over at a professional academy. White came to the chair after I asked for management; yelled at me to leave the pedi, treatment over! Then told nail student to wash my hair and send me home with WET HAIR! there was no review with any instructor after my hair was briskly washed, 1/2 dried. Carey White will be found culpable/responsible for running a scam/sham beauty school; robbing many student's: tuition $, time, dreams of a beauty education & being treated like indentured servants to Carey White. I realize the severity of my complaint, had I not seen the abuse, miss treatment, absence of instructors, all up close/personal, I would not be filing complaint. I have called/messaged Carey three times for a fair resolution: that the hair dye failed to dye my hair, scalp is burnt, hair knotted mess/failing out, skin stained and She ended my pedicure; no response from White.

I went in to get a cut and color and was very disappointed. To start they ran out of the developer and had to dilute it just to have enough. I was able to stick around there for while and talked to some of the students and they arent being treated fairly. The products they use are all donated and most of the time are expired products. The owners office has a nice couch and TV and coffee maker but the student break room has a table and a fridge. They have to buy most of the stuff they use on a daily basis i.e. rubber gloves. Very very disappointed in how the owner is running the school.

Arizona Academy of Beauty, Inc. Response

First I would like to address the developer. Occasionally, schools (as well as professional salons) run low or out of products. In ************************, we teach students how to improvise to solve problems, just as you would in a salon. That is called teaching/learning. As a side note, if I as the owner am not notified that my school is low or out of products...it is challenging for me. Once I am notified, supplies are replaced as quickly as possible.Second, the products used on clients is not donated nor expired. Beauty supply stores do donate items to the school however, these color products are used in classroom teaching and on mannequins. We are a Wella color school. Wella is a professional color product only sold to licensed establishments or professionals. Please get your facts straight. As far as the student break room and my office is concerned, the break room has a sitting area, refrigerator and microwave ovens. There is not a coffee pot in the break room as there is one located on our coffee bar on the clinic floor and available to students, staff and customers. I have had couches in the break room, however, they were removed because the students did not keep them clean and orderly. Also due to COVID, we removed items that were not sanitizable. Most businesses have. You cannot exactly throw a couch into the washer. As far as my office is concerned, I do have a couch that is visible from my office door. I do have a tv and coffee maker in the far corner of my office that is not visible unless you actually walk into my office. As far as I know, you never have crossed the threshold to my personal space. But for the record, the the tv is utilized for the multitude of webinars I attend weekly. Not that this is any of your concern.Lastly, my students do not "buy stuff they use on a daily basis i.e.rubber gloves". I purchase many boxes of gloves every month for students to use.Your opinion about how my students "are not being treated fairly" is your opinion and I consider slander against my Academy. I am very very disappointed in how you, a customer, would not express your "concerns" to me the owner. You have stated the contents of my office, you would then know that my door is also open to have such discussions. In the future, I would encourage you, as a customer, to bring concerns to management rather than slander and state mistruths about organizations. Respectfully submitted,**************
