Big Texan Meat Company shows up to my door, claiming he owns a ranch in Marana AZ and he was in the area making deliveries to his customers, but had some over flow that he needed to sell. Come to find out, selling meat door to door requires a license, which he can't produce. When contacted and asked about where he sources his meet from, he doesn't respond. His packaging has no date of packing, expiration date or source - if eaten, is it safe? His website doesn't work, he doesn't answer texts, claims his product is USDA choice, but again, no label. Terrible reviews on Facebook and Google. His sales method is pushy, wielding his knife and opening sealed boxed with it. Told him I don't have any freezer space, kept pushing. Told him again I don't have the space, he kept opening more boxes. Told me he was an ex cop and marine, had his toe blown off in Iraq. The date of this transaction was 8/18/2023 approximately 12:30pm. Have him on ring doorbell to prove it. On January 4,2022 I purchased a chicken pack and a beef pack from Big Texan Meat Company. With 2 days I reached out advising the owner that I weighed each piece and almost all were significantly under weight. His website has each piece of meat in the packs and what they are supposed to weigh. When I texted him he advised me that he needed to update the website or could be a packaging issue or my scale was wrong. I weighed meat from a big name store and it was exact weight so it was not my scale. He then said he would bring me more product. A week passed and I he still had not come back, as he is a local delivering company. I reached back out on January 11, 2022 to check in. I was advised that he is very busy and he would come by when he got the next chance but, "to be clear that I saw the meat before purchasing". I was shorted almost half of what I should have gotten on the chicken box and almost 8lbs on the beef box. Totalling about 28lbs of meat that I purchased based off website description vs what I actually got. If I got half the product, I should pay half the price. Entire conversation was through text messages.
