The customer had their vehicle serviced on 5/18/23 at 65,360 to include performing a recall (programming update) and an oil change and tire rotation.  The dealership did not service the cooling system or add anything to the coolant resevoir.  Customer failure four months and several thousand miles later is not related to the oil change or tire rotation.

I took my car to Jim Click Hyundai in Tucson for an oil change in October 21. Fast forward to February 22 & my engines starts to smoke on highway. Had it towed to another dealership in Phoenix & they stated that the oil drain plug had come out & it was sitting on the skid shield when they looked underneath. Called & talked to Svc Mgr ***** ******* on 2/7. He said they were still investigating & would give me a call back on 2/8. I never heard back. I called back on 2/9 & asked to speak to the GM. Was told he wasn’t available & was connected toSteven the sales manager. He said he would call back that evening or the GM would the following morning. On 10 am 2/10, I had to call them back for an update. The SVC Director ****** ******* called back saying they were not liable for the damage. Said he was forwarding my case over to their insurance carrier for review. The car is in my father in law name because he bought the car for my son when he went to college. Reference #******* **** ********

This vehicle was serviced at our location on 10-2-2021 with 58,716 miles on the odometer. As we are notified on 2-7-2022 of this reported concern the vehicle has 64,937 miles on the odometer, representing 4 months and 6,221 miles of operation. As the customer alleges this concern is due to the oil drain plug being left loose from the October 2021 service, we have responded that we are not liable, due to the extensive amount of time and mileage that has occurred since this service. An oil drain plug that is left loose will surface as a problem in a very short amount of time (days/weeks) and with very low mileage (hundreds or less). Given such, we did advise the customer we would present all the information to our insurance carrier for an independent evaluation, which was done earlier this week. We are currently awaiting a claim number assignment in order to provide pertinent information to the customer while this works thru the insurance companies process of investigation.

Our understanding is the insurance company has an open case and has attempted to contact the customer on at least two occasions via voice mail.  The insurance company has stated they have not received a return call or correspondence from the customer and they are still pending the claim at this time.

I don't have any record of being contacted by their insurance company. No voicemails or missed calls. I reached out to ****** ******* of Jim Click again July 8, 2022 requesting insurance company contact details. Hopefully he responds this time.
