Owner ******* gave quote of $5k to replace flooring but couldn't give me full quote as they would need to see any damage underneath. Told me it could be up to an extra $1200 with lot of damage. I got financed on my own but he got me approved as well...with a much better interest rate. Approved for $7500 just to be safe. 3 workers came for 5 days for about 25 hours total. 3 areas they had to cut out and replace with plywood. Those 3 areas were the ONLY things that were not on the initial invoice for 5k. ******* came to do a final walk through, my total was the entire $7500. I asked why it was $2500 over when he made it seem like the high end would be $1200 and he just told me it was for prep work. The 3 areas were $2500 all three areas totallying no more than 15 square feet together. Being a naive and apparently dumb woman and not knowing exactly how to question that, I signed the paperwork. After reviewing it I called and asked for more clarification on why it was $1300 over what he initially said, I asked for a breakdown of how he got that figure. He just gave me the same invoice...with no more information on it. He couldn't understand why I was questioning it when he told me he couldn't have given me a quote before tearing up the floor. All I wanted was the breakdown of how he came to the EXACT the amount I was approved for. He said his guys gave him that amount...but he couldn't tell me what he charges hourly for labor or what he charges per square feet. He told me he would install carpet in 2 rooms free of charge because he knew he was in the wrong. I told him I wanted a corrected invoice with the over charge removed. That was 2 weeks ago and I still have yet to hear from him. Texts and calls unanswered.Customer response
